Let's Sign Vonta Leach

We're gonna need a fullback, and he's the best FB in the league. We want to run the ball a LOT, so I think it would be smart money to bring in an amazing run blocker who just paved the way for Arian Foster's year last season.

He says he wants to be the highest paid FB in the league... well the highest paid FB makes about 3.6mil a year. So give him a 3 year, 12 million deal. Sign Mebane and another DT, and sign a complimentary RB, and call it a free agency.

Fannin can play FB, elway already said virgil green will be a great FB and we signed 2(I think) udfa FBs AND we have larsen. We don't need a FB imo

Larsen will probably be cut, and the big UDFA FB we supposedly signed, Patrick Hill, actually signed with Tennessee.

Virgil Green played TE in college right? So its unknown how good he would be at FB. he's also 6'3, most FB's are shorter.

Fannin also played mostly RB in college and is an unknown commodity.


I'm sure Green and Fannin could be good, but we really have no clue at this point. But we KNOW that Vonta Leach and Lawrence Vickers are BEASTS. If we're really planning on running the ball as much as I think we are, it would be nice to have a proven fullback.

This plan of attack at least seems reasonable compared to some of the other ideas on this forum. Good fullbacks seem to do wonders for rushing attacks in the NFL. As Bronco fans, we should know this better than most.

Fannin isn't a lead blocker, he'd be a receiver out of the backfield, exactly what we don't need, having Virgil, who Elway said COULD develop to be a fullback/h-back.

FB is not a position that you need to go out and spend a lot on, there are a lot of guys that play the position really well. In short the difference in ability will probably not measure the difference in pay.

We didn't get Pat Hill, he went to the Titans.

And we're 20 million under the cap and we are about to trade Orton which could possibly free up another 9 million. We actually NEED to spend money. I just think spending it on an elite fullback and run blocker would be prudent to our goals, rather than unknown guys.

Looks like all the high priced ELITE FA are gone....we need to spend what $20 mill ...minus...the low $ I imagine UDFA will get paid.

Say we resign M. Thomas and pay him eh 3 or 4 mill a year.....We should have room for at least one ELITE FA signing to get Broncos Nation in a frenzy.

I am not a fan of a hybrid TE run blocker or using the kicker as a lead blocker or using a DT as a lead blocker, Give me a lead blocker as a lead blocker, he'd probably be better at lead blocking if lead blocking is what he does.

So we are going to have a sophisticated run game huh, tricky smart guy stuff..... Eh give me fundamentals like RB runs behind lead blocker to the gap and smashes through a few guys or makes one cut in a crease and breaks it north and south.

Leach is a monster and the clear-cut best fullback in the league. There was a reason the players voted him as a top 100 player in the NFL this offseason.
