Daniel Muir is the worst graded DT in the entire NFL by a mile according to PFF.

    He's 6'2, 295. Not really big.

He had 0 sacks, 0 QB Hits, and 4 QB pressures all of last year. That's as a starter and with 534 snaps. He doesn't generate any pressure. None.

What I do agree on is that he couldn't single-handedly fix our run defense, absolutely correct. However, he could single-handedly destroy it as the worst run defending DT in the NFL.
LOL, exactly. And that's them playing the Bucs Cover 2 D, where the pressure should mostly come from the inside. I just hope the Rams overbid on him so we don't get him. There's a difference between signing a total scrub vs. a unknown. Now I'm really irked that we passed on Dareus, not bashing Miller. But we needed DT and we were in prime position to finally snag a top 3 DT and we passed. I really hope that doesn't come to bite us in the ass.

I was basing my opinion on Muir off of his 2009 season, when he came in and surprised the Colts.

I'm not sure how well he did last season (2010).

If that's the case, disregard my comment defending him.

He's a big guy who can create pressure. Not much a plugger, but can generate a little interior pressure.

Obviously, he couldn't single-handedly fix our run defense. But he'd be a worthwhile, cheap pickup.

These are the little things that can lead to big things, and they fall squarely on the shoulders of Elway and Xanders, in my opinion.
Cap space isn't the problem, IMO. I have a bad feeling we will be close to the cap minimum when all is said and done. For the last 3 years we have been one of the lowest spending teams in the league.

Rumors of financial problems at Dove Valley have flown around for the last several years. I didn't believe it at first, but the lack of spending on talented FA's has started to irritate me.

I am still withholding judgement until the FA period is over, but I'm not holding my breath for a Mebane or a Jenkins.

Vic and Gary asked John about signing a DT with proven productivity in the league, and John referenced the waiver wire.....ugh.

Hell, we don't really need anything else, and we still can't manage to strike a deal with one of these guys. Someone isn't doing a good enough job, and for the first time I am really questioning what EFX is really doing.

Danny Muir and Kevin Vickerson as your potential starting DT's? My God, that is just awful. There was plenty to choose from in this free agency pool, and so far I am extremely unimpressed. Hell, we haven't even made a signing.

It seems that to reach this cap floor we're going to continue overpaying Orton (and not only that, shunt him in as starter over Tebow) and throw a lot of money at one of the worst DTs in the league. Mother of God.

Instead of a possibility of Mebane and Starks with Orton gone we will have Muir and Vickerson with Orton at QB over Tebow. We play Tenn and the Vikings this year, we could see the single game rushing yards record broken twice in the one season

Agreed, the fact that this guy is even being considered the front office is heinous beyond all recognition. Muir is not a good DT. He's not even average. Heck, calling him poor would be a stretch. He's awful.
