It's also obvious now that Denver sees Jeremy Jarmon as a DT, which completely flabbergasts me. I guess we are going with that 4 DE D-line idea some folks have floated. The Giants had success with that, but they also had legit DTs filtered in as well.

There are still options available. We'll see what happens.
You are aware that Fox doesn't make the decisions...... right?

Clayton just said we're in the mix.
He also retweeted some guy making fun of his rat tail which was probably unintentional.

I thought it was funny at least..

I never heard Elway saying that, can you direct me to a source?

The only thing I heard was that we had already agreed to compensation and the only holdup was Orton restructuring his contract.

Thats what was being reported yesterday afternoon and yesterday evening

EDIT: This is what i found in the Elway thread about his radio interview this morning

    - "Orton is the starter, have been listening to calls for him, looking for best thing for Broncos. Going to come out to compete for the job, he's coming out today. Plan all along. Rumors are false about asking for a 2nd."

Well I can sort of believe them when it comes to Paea. Maybe he thought it'd be a risk to draft him because it's harder to play DT with those measurables, but Mebane has already had plenty of success so they don't feel it's an issue with him. I'd like to believe they were talking about the risk factor rather than the scheme factor, but I also have a lingering feeling that they're just talking out their ass.

Maybe. All we really have to go on is scattered media reports that we've tried to negotiate with so and so. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to associate us with every DT available with an ounce of talent.

I'm sure we've called on some of these guys, we do need bodies afterall, but to what degree we've seriously negotiated, that's tough to say.

Plus, I still keep hearing (in my head) Xanders telling us that they didn't want Paea because he was too short and had short arms. Mebane has the same dimensions. So, for me, something doesn't add up. I still believe EFX misplayed the draft horribly and tried to cover it up by making up crap about the D-linemen. It's either that, or maybe they just truly don't give a crap about DTs.

Well, let's just hope that if/when it fails miserably this year, we turn our attention to addressing the DT position. Hoping for the best, expecting the worst.

I tweeted back "Denvers out of the mix??" but have yet to get a response...I REALLY HOPE HE IS WRONG but I will keep everyone informed if I do get a response.

I think I might become mildly depressed if we lose out on Mebane.....
Based on our efforts so far in the FA, I am going to say lombardi has it right.

We knew we had to make a splash in FA, and so far it's as if they are just sitting on their thumbs or they aren't able to simply finish off a deal. I'm starting to worry because we haven't even been able to re-sign Marcus Thomas.
Here's a thought, maybe the front office doesn't agree with you, or any of us, on what we need to be doing this free agency?

Look at the Redskins, every year they throw money at the biggest free agents and their team continues to suck.

I'd rather continue to build through the draft, and only sign free agents if the price is right and they're a good FIT for the team.

If Mebane is trying to get paid like he's an elite DT then we should stay faaaaaar away from that deal.

If Denver signs him, I sure hope you are correct about him. If Denver can get someone in the middle to keep their new LB core clean, that will help a bunch.

What a joke. We should continue to bombard his twitter if he signs somewhere else as a bunch of lovers scorned.
