The Noel Devine era already is over in Philly
Posted by Mike Florio on July 30, 2011, 7:23 PM EDT

APIf the Eagles will indeed be a Dream Team in 2011, they won’t have on the roster a guy who was a YouTube phenom in high school.

Former West Virginia running back Noel Devine, signed by the team on Tuesday, was released Saturday.

The Eagles tucked the news into the tail end of the announcement that defensive tackle Broderick Bunkley, a first-round pick in 2006, had been traded to the Browns for a fifth-round selection. No details were provided on the team’s website regarding the reason for the move.

Devine joined a crowded backfield, and he likely had a small margin for error. Also, if he hadn’t kept himself in top shape, it likely would have been obvious.

For now, Devine has lost his ability to control his NFL destiny. He’ll pass through waivers, and anyone who would want to sign him as a free agent would be foolish not to put in a claim on a contract that surely pays out only the minimum salaries.

i dont know why he chose them anyway they picked up like 5 rb's

I hope that we could atleast bring in Noel. The Eagles have made some great moves thus far, but letting Noel go could very well be one of the biggest mistakes that they made.

Yes - I'd like to see him in our camp.
Hate List for 2016-2017 Season: 1. Oakland, 2. New England, 3. Kansas City, 4. Pittsburgh and 5. Houston (yes, Houston....)

He might be a good change of pace back. I wouldn't mind us signing him. However, he is small and Fannin might end up being our speed back anyway.

He was my #1 UDFA that I wanted, I'd love to pick him up. With the way things are going I'd pretty much bet the house against us doing it though.

I hope Denver will pick him up. He can be a great addition for special teams. I dont really see him getting any carries though.

I don't really see how he contributes at all. If all he does is get in on the return game it's a wasted roster spot since we have so many guys that can already do that and contribute on other areas of the field as well.

If it comes down to him or a DT we'll probably get him.

We nees to sign as many RBs as possible. We have to find a way to keep our defense off the field!!!

I have not seen anyone worth mentioning in the return game in the past few years. If noel devine can give us a something special in the return game then he is worth the roster spot in my opinion.

since his rookie season he hasn't been doing all that great. Also with Thomas out for awhile and Gaffney gone he is gonna need to focus more on playing receiver than returner.

The coaches have already said Royal is going to be playing punt return duty this year, and I guess you missed the two punt return touchdowns against the Chargers in 09, and the total BS return for a touchdown called back against the 49er's last year?

Royal is extremely dangerous as a returner, and if you forget, Cassius Vaughn took a kick back for a touchdown last year as well.

Devine would waste a roster spot in my opinion. Our backfield is too crowded for him to get any action back there as well.

That was 09' going into the 11' season he is coming off hip surgery and as I said before is gonna have to be the broncos second best option at receiver. Its not a good idea to have him returning punts and kicks all game where he will take extra hits.
