  • Would you be satisfied with this DL?

Hypothetically, Denver does sign Jamal Anderson and Ty Warren. The defensive line would look something like this:

DE - Doom, Harvey, Hunter, Beal

    DT - Vickerson, Warren, Leonard

    DT - Thomas, Anderson, McBean

DE - Ayers, Jarmon, Haggan, Veikune

I know Haggan can play LB too, and Jarmon may play inside, but is this group that bad? If this group got the inside push and Doom and Ayers could generate a pass rush, things could be interesting.

we prob wont land Warren, but id be content. Not happy by any means, but def content lol. We need to continue to make offers to DT's.

Franklin, Rocky Bernard (Stop-Gap), Derek Landri r the guys that i think we should still target.

I think we would probably get Landri instead of Warren. I'm not to crazy about it. It's the same guys we've always had who sucked against the run along with a bunch of backups who haven't seen much playing time, but judging from articles I've read Fox and company are banking on Vick and Thomas developing into solid starters, so I'm taking a wait and see approach.

Don't worry about Warren or Anderson, move Thomas and Leonard to NT and put Jarmon backing up Vickerson, would make the DT a stronger unit, let Doom and Ayers start at DE and Harvey, Hunter and or Beal back them up would be solidify the DE position IMO

Hunter plays on the strong side and is better than both Jarmon and Harvey (who both are strong side ends). Warren would either start over Vickerson, or he would start over Thomas. Anderson and Vick play the same position. Marcus Thomas and Leonard play the same position. Haggan moved back to linebacker with Harvey signing. Veikune is a weakside end.

          If the depth chart read;

          Ayers-------------Warren---------------Vickerson------------Doom
          Hunter-------------Thomas--------------Anderson------------Beal
          Harvey-------------Leonard--------------Jarmon---------------Veikune

Then I would be very happy with it, especially since Dennis Allen looks to make a penetrating D that forces turnovers.

          Sidenote: I think a Ty Warren signing could mean some 3-3-5 packages.Something like this (full depth chart);

          -----------Ty Warren-----------------Marcus Thomas-----------------Robert Ayers
          -----------Kevin Vickerson-----------Louis Leonard---------------Anderson/Harvey

          BDawk--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Carter

          -------------------Von Miller------------------DJ Williams----------------------Elvis Dumervil
          -------------------Mario Haggan-------------Nate Irving-----------------------Wesley Woodyard

          Champ Bailey--------------------------------------------------------------------Goodie
          Perish Cox-----------------------------------------------------------------------------Squid

          -------------------------------------Darcel McBath/Rahim Moore

I am now very very happy with just the addition of Broderick Bunkley. Solid player, and if motivated can be great. Love this trade.

Good stuff draftnik! I wasn't putting them in order and figured I had some people out of position, although it seems there will be a lot of shifting. It could be better, but it could also be a lot worse if this scenario was to play out.

Far too many guys, we can't afford to keep 14 defensive lineman.

agreed, 8 or 9 is more likely. 10 at the absolute most.

I wouldn't mind if Ty Warren didn't get signed and haggan was released.

Jarmon will probably see more use as a DT. He came in at 295 last year, and Elway said he was a DT in his tweet which is how I guess the Broncos view him.

Vickerson/Thomas/Bunkley/Jarmon is my bet to make the roster. There will probably be a 5th guy but that could be anyone from Leonard to a FA signing like Warren.

                      As for DE...
At the RDE I think we'll see Doom, getting backed up by Beal.
At the LDE I think we'll see Ayers start, getting backed up by Jason Hunter, and possibly David Veikune/Derrick Harvey/Jamal Anderson.

8-10 defensive linemen is what I see.

Let's not kid ourselves here, Broderick Bunkley is a bust.

He lost his job in Philly.

Jarmon has also taken reps as a 3-tech DT, and Alfred Williams in particular, said he was very quick off the ball, and he likes his skills, athletically. Jarmon's versatility, youth and skill make him a strong bet to make the team and play...alot.

If we take Vickerson as a bonafide starter, the competition at the other DT spot began with Louis Leonard, and now has added Marcus Thomas and apparently Broderick Bunkley.

It is an interesting competition, because quietly, Leonard is having a good camp, and he is a very big man. Plus, he looks like he is in great shape. Add to that the fact that he has played for Foxy...he is healthy and in his physical prime....just sayin'

Thomas, to me, is just a body for this season. I have never really liked him, so to me, I hope somebody else beats him out.

Anyone interested in the hustle kid Whitlock from Texas Tech?

If his reported 6'3"-294 size is correct, your talking about a guy that is going to play, with his intensity, at 300lbs hmmmmmmmmmmmm....

You just knew EFX would add some lower level free agent types, make some trades, etc we just had to be a little patient.

So, if I assume we keep eight:

                        1) Doom
                        2)Vickerson
                        3) Ayers
                        4)Thomas
                        5)Jarmon

...and I have to believe that unless he just has nuthin' left, Derrick Harvey is going to make the roster.

Could it be that the Broncos are already looking for just two d-linemen?

...and still have Leonard and Bunkley competing for those spots?

I have to admit, I am interested in what they have done and how it will turn out.

I think EFX has executed a very sensible gameplan.

                        Kudos.

He lost it due to injury. He started the first 5 games, hurt his elbow and Antonio Dixon took over and play very well. Patterson and Bunkley were both pretty good run stuffers, just neither of them offer any pass rush.

Beal is a stud, huge steal for us, could be as high as 2nd string. Don't be surprised if David Veikune makes a push for time either

Beal did catch my eye at camp.

A classic case of a football player that plays (much) faster than he times.

Has to beat out Derrick Harvey, though...
