  • WOW!!! Half of the Broncos Roster are UFAs/RFAs/ERFAs in 2012

2012 offseason is going to be very interesting for us. We have a ton of FAs that we have to either re-sign, or part ways with. We have 29 players that are in the final year of their contracts. I'm pretty sure all 29 won't make the team this year, but just incase they do, i've added them to the list.

    UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENTS
    1. Broderick Bunkley
    2. Brandon Lloyd
    3. Kyle Orton
    4. Eddie Royal
    5. Brian Dawkins
    6. Joe Mays
    7. Matthew Willis
    8. Wesley Woodyard
    9. Marcus Thomas
    10. Brady Quinn
    11. Daniel Fells
    12. Jason Hunter
    13. Matt Prater
    14. Mario Haggan
    15. Russ Hochstein
    16. Spencer Larsen
    17. Dante Rosario
    18. David Anderson
    19. Derrick Harvey

    RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS
    1. Ryan McBean
    2. David Veikune

    EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS FREE AGENTS
    1. Britton Colquitt
    2. Lance ball
    3. Chris Clark
    4. Britt Davis
    5. Dan Gronkowski
    6. Braxton Kelly
    7. Lee Robinson
    8. Kyle McCarthy

From the looks of it, we will be in good shape for some Compensatory Picks in 2013 IF we don't replace alot of these players in Free Agency. 29 Free Agents are alot. And this could be one reason why we haven't spent alot of money in Free Agency this year.

This is going to be true of alot of teams in the NFL, which is going to be year-to-year now more than ever.

A lot of those guys it depends on how well they play this year. I think we'll see guys like Eddie, Lloyd, Colquitt, Mays, and Prater back. If we hold up well in the cap as expected, we should have enough to resign the guys that we do want.

I'm not sure if Mays will be back. He really isn't Fox's type of LB, speed wise.

Dawkins has about 2 more years left on his contract after this year.

Nope. When he restructured, they voided the rest of his contract. This is his last year.

True. I'm sure he'd be happy with Irving as starter.

                Here's what my marks meant:

Underline = Depending upon their play this season (Good or bad) will determine if I want them re-signed or not.

                Bold = Definitely want re-signed

                Italicized = Don't want them re-signed.

Cut in the next few weeks:
                  Russ Hochstein
                  Spencer Larsen
                  Dante Rosario
                  Ryan McBean
                  David Veikune
                  Britt Davis
                  Dan Gronkowski
                  Braxton Kelly
                  Lee Robinson

Players that make this year's squad, but we make no effort to re-sign next offseason:
                  Brian Dawkins
                  Joe Mays
                  Mario Haggan
                  Lance Ball
                  Chris Clark

Wildcards - Depends on this season / I'm not sure how the FO views them:
                  Kyle Orton
                  Brady Quinn
                  David Anderson
                  Matthew Willis
                  Jason Hunter
                  Derrick Harvey
                  Kyle McCarthy

                  Priority FA to resign:

                  Brandon Lloyd
                  Broderick Bunkley

I think the list is as simple as this:

                    Re-sign:

                    - Lloyd
                    - Royal
                    - Thomas
                    - Prater
                    - Colquitt
                    - Haggan/Woodyard/Mays (one of the three)

The rest of them have to prove they are worth something.

So he restructured, gave up money upfront to help the Broncos get cap relief to sign more players . He also agreed to give up the last 2 years of his contract. Do you have a link to back up information.

                        Old news

"Dawkins' 2011 salary was set at $6 million under his old deal, but under the terms of the new contract he will receive one-third of that. Signing for a $400,000 bonus, his base salary is $1.6 million.

This new contract also eliminates the final two years of the previous one, at the end of which he would be 40-years-old. Dawkins won't say whether this is his last season, but he does acknowledge that the Broncos do have two rookie safeties waiting in the wings to man the secondary"

Wow i guess this would be Dawkins last year of playing in the NFL unless the Broncos bring him for the minimum next year. Dawkins actually gave up money to play for Broncos, unbelievable.

Personally I like the idea of one year contracts. I see players have a great year their contract years and sign a big 5 yr contract and just seem like they lose something in their desire until another contract year approaches. A one year deal inspires them to play great each year if they want the big money next year. How many players have you seen get BIG BONUS, multi-year contracts and you never hear from them again?

Bolded are the ones i'd like back, mainly Bunkley who's playing great.

Some depend how they do this year.
