I'm sure NOBODY would mind smith if he didn't cost us a first round pick and had a 580K salary.

As expected, the Panthers wasted no time in using their No. 1 waiver spot on the 41st overall pick in the 2009 draft. Butler was New England's best corner through offseason practices last season, but quickly fell out of favor once the season started. He's a worthwhile investment for a team in need of a starter opposite Chris Gamble.

I don't have a problem with Alphonso Smith. He is a young CB. And like most CBs, he will make some plays and give some plays. Smith should still be on the Broncos roster. He would not be the #1 or #2 CB, but he would be among the best 5 CBs on the team today. Yes, he looked silly against the Patriots. So what? Who is our 3rd CB? Cassius Vaughn? Just wait until Tom Brady finds Vaughn on the field. A rebuilding team like the Broncos should take care of the key draft picks, develop the players and give them some confidence. McDaniels did the opposite. We traded him after 1 season and put Nate Jones on the final roster.

I agree, pulled the trigger on Phonz much too quick.

At least the Broncos put a claim on Darius Butler

Four teams put waivers claims in on former Pats CB Darius Butler. He went to Carolina ahead of SF, Denver and Jacksonville
Looks like you have to be the worst team in the NFL to take advantage of the waiver wire. 2nd worst is not bad enough.

silly doesnt describe it. He looked downright pitiful. He let Dion branch burn him twice and thats only a part of it. But I do think he learned alot from that beating he took from that game and the coaching staff kept him around for a reason. Most players probably would be cut or buried in the depth chart after that kind of performance but he was kept around which means something. I think the broncos just weren't patient enough with him.
