  • First Pick Question

I honestly dont think we will get the number 1 pick.. that belongs to KC or Seattle. Assuming we go 4-12 or 5-11 or even 6-10 and land in the 3-7 pick range, do you think we will take the second best QB? I think thats Matt Barkley or am I wrong?

Its custom for QBs to go higher then they should out of nessesity (sp) so even if the second best QB is projected higher then we are picking, do you think we will take him regardless and reach a few picks to get our new franchise QB?

basically, if Luck is gone. do you think we will make a point to grab a QB even if hes not there? or will we go after rebuilding one of the lines

No I don't think we'd take any QB not named Luck in the high first to be honest

We have a young QB who we still need to give a chance

And we still have other positions that need to be filled with some great talent

yea but it doesnt look like the FO likes Tebow too much considering hes 3rd string.. Look at Clausen in Carolina. They spent a high pick on him but they still took Newton without giving Clausen more then half a season

We'll be selling either Barkley or Jones jerseys next year once the circus is finally gone.

I don't really know if Fox or the FO likes Tebow or not. It COULD be that they like him but want him to sit and learn another year before they give him a chance. I think if Denver can't get Luck they will draft the BPA on their boards. They are building a good defense and might continue to build it or go for a OL with their first pick. They may even draft a center if they can trade down to the mid to late teens or early twenties! They do need to find better protection for whoever they have at QB!

We should of drafted Wiz last year over Franklin.

              But....we made another bad pick.

I just don't know. It sure would be nice to load up on some more impact players like Von Miller or Clady for a few years.

I know they seem to have some desire to kill "the Tebow thing" with fire, but it might be the smart move to draft the best player available, start Tebow next year, and if that doesn't turn out bring in a Matt Hasselbeck type of solution to bridge the gap while you develop your next QB prospect.

(I'm not saying Matt Hasselbeck himself, I'm saying there's usually some Hasselbeck or Kerry Collins around to get things done for 2 or 3 years.)

I wouldnt mind trading from 4 or 5 to the early 20s and draft a good linemen. With that we will then have 2 1sts the year after and that will be "year 3" of our 3 year rebuild. And then take more linemen.

Its simple, the game is won in the trenches. We HAVE the skill position players outside of a QB to get it done, but we just dont have any linemen worth a crap outside of Doom and Clady. Because this is the easiest comparison for me, look at the Browns compared to the Broncos.

The Browns have neglected skill position players for a while (outside of Haden and Ward) But what they lack with skill, they have with great lines that win up front so that the secondary players, linebackers and recievers dont need to be pro bowlers to be effective. The Broncos are complete opposite. We have Good skill position players and a ton of talent with them (DJ, LLoyd, Decker,DT, Von, Champ ect.) But we have inept linemen to win the battle up front so out skill position players are not as effective as they should be.

Look where the two teams are, the Browns are on the way up finally after beefing up the D-line and are a few good skill position players like WR and LB away from being a consistant winning young team (ala Detroit this year).

Bottom line, i wouldnt mind trading down, accumulating numerous 1st and second round Picks and using them to rebuild the lines. The only other position I feel like we need if Tebow CAN play would be CB.

                  What do you guys think?

I want Defense in the first. But i also believe that BPA would be a good moto to live by. I would take RG3 in the second. If the front office doesn't like that and wants a QB i would take Jones over any USC qb. They always appear good never show much.

Also after watching the Browns build, it used to frustrate the crap out of me to watch us constantly trade down like the Patriots and accumulate picks and them spend them on linemen. I wanted the flashy pick at all times like a WR, S, CB or RB but we always traded away and picked up linemen and now that this is over and i can see the result of the linemen dominating, I understand why they didnt take Julio Jones and Knowshon Moreno.

All Im saying is that we NEED to build though the draft and pick up linemen that we can build from. I know its not the sexy pick and there is no rediculous highlight reel to watch from a LG, but it makes sense. Im waiting for that day to come.

Like I said, Im only using the Browns as refrence because I know them in and out since I live in CLeveland so dont blow it up at me like Im trying to sound ignorent by bringing them up plz

I think Coples is a likely target so far. QB and any lineman are the best bets for the first pick at this point.

DE for NC compared to Peppers but i dont like that comparison i think he is better the Robert Quinn last year.
