  • Vontaze Burfict

By no means am I now hopping on his bandwagon or discovering him as a prospect.

Before the season, I had Burfict mocked here to Denver. With the emergence of Joe Mays, I figured that drafting a MLB isn't a necessity.

Now that I reexamine the situation, Mays hasn't exactly performed as highly as he was before (although he's a quality starter for us). If we elect to go BPA and we're in the late teens with Burfict on the board, what are the chances that we pull the trigger? He could instantly improve our pass rush as well as play in space in coverage with his athleticism, and also provide a mean streak for our D.

Drafting Burfict would easily give us a top 3 linebacker group in the NFL, so why not!

Note: corner is my number one choice, followed by receiver and running back. I just like to keep the options open.

IMHO, there's a difference in having a "mean streak", and being an idiot...

As I eluded to in the "Mays" thread in GD, if it ain't broke, do not fix it. We have a defense that is giving up less than 13 points per game over the last three games and are just getting better.

Re-sign Mays, Bunkley, McBean, and Thomas...keep our guys together.

You're right, which is exactly why I want Burfict

That's true, but there's still the argument for drafting the BPA, look at what Beason did for Carolina when he replaced Chris Draft (who was playing well for Carolina, but not outstanding).

I'm not a big fan of Burfict. I think he's a talented player, but every game I've watched him in this year, he's done something stupid. I'd rather play with guys who may be less talented, but have a good head on their shoulders.

I guess it will depend on how Mays is graded, may be a non issue if he signs elsewhere...then MLB becomes a big priority.

Would love to get the guy I wanted us to draft in 2008...Curtis Lofton!

What makes you think his average personal foul penalties make him a mean player and not an idiot?

Pass. If we draft any LB it better be that Kuechly guy from Boston College. I really dont want another locker room headache in Burfict. Too immature and we don't need that.

Yup. Im on the Kuechly wagon. Before the season I wanted the broncos to get Burfict but he hasn't really done good this year. Overpursuing gets fooled on play actions and I don't see that same "mean streak" this year. I think he's trying to be "less mean" this year but I think it just hurts him.
Kuechly is just all over the field has great instincts and a good tackler.
If EFX wants to go with Burfict I'll trust them they can coach him up. And plus Fox knows linebackers

I hope we get in this draft: a penetrating DT, an everydown back, WRs who can catch, Secondary, and depth on the lines

Kuechly is better. Smarter with better technique. More awareness (run and coverage), sheds blocks better, better tackler, great character, leadership skills.

If we take any LB, it will be Zack Brown...he is more in the mold of a Fox LB. If you are looking for a Beason type, that is Brown. Speed, coverage, nose for the football.

Beason was primarily an OLB at Miami also, so I would not discount Brown because he has not played inside.

We picked Irving in the 3rd round, i'd give him a shot before we take a LB, we're pretty deep at LB as is anyway.

                            I'd take Devon Still personally...

I have to figure if Irving was making the kind of impression needed to challenge Mays, he would be on the field more often than he is.

I say Brown, because he offers a multidimensional LB. If we just want the thumper, Mays is fine. Brown would put 4.45 speed in the middle and a guy capable of sticking on a TE.
