I would love V Jax on the team. But his value is decreased playing for us and the money makes no sense to me. And our unwillingness to pay star big time receivers shows that it will likely not happen. Hopefully I am right. I would rather spend 8-10 million on a two very good defensive players who could start on this football team.

Not for the cost of V Jax and the decrease of value he would have on this team.

I would love to take that 10 million per year and spend it on some top defensive free agents and then just draft a guy like Kendall Wright to be our slot receiver.
This offense is not always going to be a run 60% of the time offense. The passing game will evolve.

I agree that $10M/year would be a bit high for a WR right now and there are other higher priorities such as CB, DT, and RB but then again a draft pick does not always pan out and they do have the money to spend.

Personally, I think they are doing ok at WR with DT, Decker, Willis, Goodwin, and Dell. I think if they got a mid price FA WR they will be good. They run a lot of 2 WR sets so a 3rd is not used very often anyway. I think using those draft picks to upgrade other areas would be the best plan.

When do you see Jackson get a little 5 yard pass and take it to the house.

johnlimburg, do you really believe that Fox would rather have a small/explosive receiver than a BIG (biggest in the league) receiver that gets over the top of the coverage AND blocks well in the running game?

I understand your money argument, but even if we resign our own wanted players we'll have about 15-20 million to reach the 90% minimum.

This weekend we saw Larod Stephens Howling win a game for the cardinals, Percy Harvin take 2 short passes for long scores, and Victor Cruz make some big catch and run plays.

Steve Smith, WR for Carolina Panthers under head coach John Fox

P.S. we now have panthers WR coach who coached Smith also.

WHy this thread is still going after D Thomas had a great performance last game?

This guy is a monster, a bonafied #1 WR if stays healthy.
Did any1 see the play where he completely broke the ankles of the safety? i mean the guy just fell over and looked completely silly, he then dragged 2 corners into the endzone with him.

The connection between DT and Tebow has just only started to JEL. people will laugh at the thought of Jackson soon enough

This is laughable. Steve Smith gives more effort blocking than anybody else on that team, and if it weren't for his toughness he wouldn't have lasted there. You chose literally the toughest little man in the league to use as an example.

PS Fox didn't even draft Smith, he inherited him. Are you going to say he'd prefer a game manager that can't run the football now? cause that's what he had in Carolina.

I posted a similar thing. The response was that he wasn't shifty enough and/or didn't play slot......

i really dont get some "fans" mentality of buying a superbowl with the biggest names and flash in the pan WRs. Look at the Eagles. Look at the Miami Heat.

a very similair situation to this is the eagles. Look at Smith who played for the Giants , signed with the eagles this season. They treat this guy terribly the whole season and it was mainly a move to keep him away from the Giants. Smith is now saying in the media he wishes he was still a giant. I could only imagine what bringing in a diva like Jackson could do to our lockerroom while someone like Royal or Decker heads out the door.

The idea wasn't to "Buy" a championship. we NEED to spend up to 25-30 million in FA this year, and the only ways we get there are 1. overpaying our own free agents for the hell of it or 2. getting our own locked up and signing a few players so that we don't have to draft in those positions.
