Don't know. However I think he would like to add another dimension to the offense. We have our #1 and #2's. Eddie will be gone and Willis is not a starter. We need a slot receiver who is a home run threat. We need that threat.

I understand your money argument, but even if we resign our own wanted players we'll have about 15-20 million to reach the 90% minimum.
Yes. And you have to be smart with your money. You cannot go just blowing 20 million in one off season and handicap yourself down the road. You need good managment. Look down the road what we will need to do. Clady is off contract in the 2013 off season. We will have Walton and Beadles off contract at some point at the same time and if they contine to play well and improve there could be big investments. Decker and DT if they can be a good one two punch on the outside as they develop with Tebow they will come off around the same time. We have a lot of young guys who look like they will have good careers. You do not want to risk that by blowing all of your money and not have any room to keep them guys for their second contracts because you wanted to give a multi year deal to a 29 year old wide receiver for ridiculous money who will never earn that money in that team.

Plus after we re-sign all of our own guys we WILL NOT need to spend 15-20 Million to reach 90%.

Bunkley, Thomas, Myas, Woodyard if they are all kept are all in for significant raises.

Not very but it is nice to have that threat.

I agree that $10M/year would be a bit high for a WR right now and there are other higher priorities such as CB, DT, and RB but then again a draft pick does not always pan out and they do have the money to spend.
Yes but if a 2nd round draft pick busts then you are not on the hook for 25+ million in guarantees and a 50 million dollar or so contract. I agree the passing game will evolve but I think DT and Decker will evolve as well with Tebow and the passing game. I have bought into Tebow at least having the off season and next season as the starter. So I think if you keep this young group together then that is great. They can grow together. And all 3 (DECKER, DT, TEBOW) have shown potential to get better.

Personally, I think they are doing ok at WR with DT, Decker, Willis, Goodwin, and Dell. I think if they got a mid price FA WR they will be good. They run a lot of 2 WR sets so a 3rd is not used very often anyway. I think using those draft picks to upgrade other areas would be the best plan.
I still think we need a weapon. Add another dimension to the offense.

As I said I hope we go into the 2012 season with:

    Demaryius Thomas
    Eric Decker
    Kendall Wright
    Matthew Willis
    Mark Dell

I think that is a nice group with a tone of potential.

I could only imagine what bringing in a diva like Jackson could do to our lockerroom while someone like Royal or Decker heads out the door.
Jackson isn't a diva. Give me situation when he's been a diva. His biggest frustrations have been with the team losing, and he hasn't even thrown Rivers under the bus (which we would all do), and he's had one incident in his history in which his name has been in a bad light.

He's made less than 8 Million dollars in contract money in his career for being a top 10, possibly top 5 receiver. You give him the label of "diva" for NO reason at all.

I wouldn't. He is contracted for 3 years. No reaosn to up him. He is getting old and we should look to draft a guy to spell him and take over for him in 2013.

        No need to up him.

he's getting pretty good money, especially for a runningback, and ESPECIALLY for his age.

Yeh I wouldn't call Jackson a diva at all. He has been held hostage by the Charger for years now when he has deserved a contract. He is not a diva.

game vs raiders. Rivers in trouble,,, throws it up ,,,, jackson watches the ball go by him, Rivers gets pissed off and throws his hands up like ***? . This season where the Raiders beat them. He is a diva regardless of what you think about him.

on his way to another 1,000 yard rushing season... is there no benefit in rewarding players that perform for you?

there is, but not in this situation. he gets over 3 mil average on the first two years, which is good running back money, even for 1000 yards rushing. If he got 1000 yards after those 2 seasons I'd help pay him myself

He is getting paid. No need. It is a business. You don't hand out money for no reason when you are running a business.

I said top 10, possibly top 5, because he was widely viewed as a top 5 receiver before Rivers decided to suck.

You sign a contract to play your heart out, and quite often these contracts have incentives. I don't know if there are performance based incentives, but Willis is signed to try 100% and that's what he's doing.

It depends on your business and the situation. You have a 30+ year old running back. He is contracted which would more than likely be the rest of his career. He is getting plenty good enough money.

Look at other guys in the business of the NFL:

Chris Johnson, Matt Forte, Vincent Jackson, Cortland Finnegan.

All guys who deserved more money before they got off contract and they are on rookie salaries. Johnson finally got a new contract but deserved one a season earlier. He was a 2000 yard runner and then played a full season on like 500K per year.

Mcgahee is getting a tone of money. He doesn't need more. We don't need to give him more.

I like the POv of teams like Cincy that write contracts and stick with them, I dont think you just hand out a huge new contract when that player clearly knew he was a high quality player and could have not signed the contract if he knew he was better than it.
