I agree. I think the cost might be too much though. If they took this years first, and next years, what else could we give?

    Tebow supporter here. That said...

Make a run for RGIII. I love Tim, but you can't risk building a team around him. I want to see him stay a Bronco, but we need a true passer.

The Colts are drafting Luck. That's a no brainer, but the Rams wil be dealing for the #2 pick. The more I see/listen to RGIII the more I think he's could be great in the NFL. Just think of a smarter, better passing, stronger, tougher Vick.

I agree with Rod I would like to see a very D heavy draft.

For as bad our D was The offense seemed to want to mirror there performance as well.

Maybe Matt Moore. Fox seems to like him. He did pretty well for the Dolphins this year.

He's still got a gig, but Matt Hasselbeck and that type are who I'd bring in. I would bring an athletic QB like Joe Webb to be the #3. That way you've got both aspects backed up.

I really wouldn't draft a quarterback yet. I think it's hard when you fill your roster with developmental QB's. I think they will draft a quarterback somewhere, but if it was me I'd bring in a mid-experience veteran guy to back up, and also a perhaps a developmental mobile QB. (I kind of think Tyrod Taylor is good, but the Ravens are apparently happy with their pick of him).
NO NO & NO, no washed up hasselbeck, need an up and coming guy, not sure who yet, but an old waging QB is not the answer

It's hard to know anything about his development since he focused on special teams. I think Irving is a run stopper without athleticism to play coverage (after the car crash). He looked like a more complete LB before the metal parts in his body. Irving has height advantage over Joe Mays. And hopefully he is a more consistent tackler. Joe Mays has 4.8 speed, Irving has 4.7 speed. I would not pass on Luke Kuechly just because Irving was drafted in the 3rd round.

EDIT: You can't play with Joe Mays at LB, and then the play on 1st down is a pass and Mays has to cover Gronkowski.
    ...

And for those who want a new QB... I hope this new QB can throw 7 TD passes in the a playoff game.

Apparently, all of the people that say he's the guaranteed starter for next year.

Burger Bill from ESPN says EFX should already commit to him.

    Smoke and mirrors.:paper:

When he can get a better chemistry with his receivers and complete 10-15% more of his passes, then I'll maybe buy into the idea of him being "the guy".

The Patriots scored 42 points and they only had 6 (!) 3rd down situations the whole game. 509 total yards. Yeah, let's draft a QB in the 2nd round...
    You're exactly right.

That's why I'm an advocate for Josh Johnson. He can't be that expensive, and he's still young. He's got the ability, and he still gives us an athletic QB that can throw, and he's a great guy. And of course, he wouldn't cost us a pick.

As far as what you mentioned with MLB. Where do you stand on Irving? I know as far as I'm concerned, I give him next year to start. We retain Haggan, and if Irving struggles, just throw Haggan out there and look to address that issue in 2013. Irving came in for one play yesterday when Mays went down. He diagnosed the run immediately, and made the tackle and limited the run to a 1 yard gain. Small sample size? Of course. But it was nice to see him come in right away and show those instincts that I loved when I watched his tape coming out of college.

The secondary needs a ton of help, and that was before hearing that Dawkins is considering retirement. I like how Carter turned it on near the end of the year. He was starting to put himself in those similar positions that he would frequently at Oklahoma. JayJack mentioned an idea that I thought made sense which was possibly moving Chris Harris to FS next year if Rahim Moore can't learn how to play the NFL game. I think a Harris/Carter duo at safety is a pretty nice pair. Harris is a playmaker, Carter is that run enforcing type of guy. Both are quality tacklers with Harris being near elite in that aspect. We will get Squid Thompson back next year and he showed us what he could do as a NCB in his rookie season. Then we can turn our attention to removing Goody and finding his replacement either via FA or the draft (I'd prefer to pick up a FA and draft a CB in the 2nd to start to groom - Boykin/Hosley are my choices there).

Pass rush from the interior of the line is going to be a big issue to address. Bunkley is a pure beast and needs to be re-signed. I'd love to see what kind of year he could put together with a guy who actually draws attention next to him. Calais Campbell is a pipe dream imo, but Jason Jones would be a terrific addition. He dropped some weight to put himself in a position to play some LE for the Titans, so he definitely has the athleticism we need on the interior. He said he wants to play DT again because he wasn't as successful as a LE, so we could obviously guarantee him that chance. I think he'd be a superb pickup that would come at a fraction of the price that Campbell would.

That part isn't true, at least at the NFL level. Most people saw him as an OG in the NFL.

    from NFL.com

He is an adequate athlete that would struggle with the kind of speed coming off the edge in the NFL and needs to move back inside to guard.

    from cbssports
Regarded as one of the elite offensive tackles in college football, most professional talent evaluators view Beadles as the ideal guard at the next level.

I think you just described Ronnie Brown

Bring in Josh Johnson on the promise to be given a fair QB competition. All the guy wants is a chance to start somewhere.

He's an elite athlete, has a great arm, and he throws the ball with nice touch and after watching him over the years, he's really developed into a good NFL QB that is just stuck behind a guy that the franchise drafted to be their franchise QB.

Bring him in, give him a fair shot, and honestly I think he could surprise a ton of people.

So true. Tebow helped but I think with a compentant QB playing in some of those games we could have won a lot easier.
