  • I think the "competition" for Tebow needs to be a semi-veteran who passes from the pocket like you'd want Tebow to do when the situation calls for it.

He's still got a gig, but Matt Hasselbeck and that type are who I'd bring in. I would bring an athletic QB like Joe Webb to be the #3. That way you've got both aspects backed up.

I really wouldn't draft a quarterback yet. I think it's hard when you fill your roster with developmental QB's. I think they will draft a quarterback somewhere, but if it was me I'd bring in a mid-experience veteran guy to back up, and also a perhaps a developmental mobile QB. (I kind of think Tyrod Taylor is good, but the Ravens are apparently happy with their pick of him).

It's hard to know anything about his development since he focused on special teams. I think Irving is a run stopper without athleticism to play coverage (after the car crash). He looked like a more complete LB before the metal parts in his body. Irving has height advantage over Joe Mays. And hopefully he is a more consistent tackler. Joe Mays has 4.8 speed, Irving has 4.7 speed. I would not pass on Luke Kuechly just because Irving was drafted in the 3rd round.

EDIT: You can't play with Joe Mays at LB, and then the play on 1st down is a pass and Mays has to cover Gronkowski.
      ...

And for those who want a new QB... I hope this new QB can throw 7 TD passes in the a playoff game.

NO NO & NO, no washed up hasselbeck, need an up and coming guy, not sure who yet, but an old waging QB is not the answer

        • Maybe Matt Moore. Fox seems to like him. He did pretty well for the Dolphins this year.

          • I agree with Rod I would like to see a very D heavy draft.

For as bad our D was The offense seemed to want to mirror there performance as well.

            • Tebow supporter here. That said...

Make a run for RGIII. I love Tim, but you can't risk building a team around him. I want to see him stay a Bronco, but we need a true passer.

The Colts are drafting Luck. That's a no brainer, but the Rams wil be dealing for the #2 pick. The more I see/listen to RGIII the more I think he's could be great in the NFL. Just think of a smarter, better passing, stronger, tougher Vick.

              • I agree. I think the cost might be too much though. If they took this years first, and next years, what else could we give?

                • If your looking to make that kind of move look at what the Falcons gave up to get Julio Jones last year. We are too early in the building stages to give up that much.

                  • we can't give up five picks for a qB it is to much being with out our first and second this and next year and like 3-4 this year would devestate building this team.

I don't think they should get RG3, but what's your point?

His point is we need defense.

While I obviously agree, we've also seen what a good QB can do for a franchise. However, we would have to trade so much, that the only way we could really make our D respectable is through FA, something no team should really hope to do.

It's probably smarter to keep our picks, let Tebow have an offseason and maybe take it half a year at a time next year. If he's awful, move on. If he's good, great. I still think we should bring in Josh Johnson to compete with Tebow and take over if he's bad again.

sigpic Thanks Tebow for everything that you did on your short time being a Bronco. I will always be a fan of yours no matter where you are at.

                              • I don't think any of us would actually pick Tebow over Griffin. Well some fanatics would but most people would easily go with Griffin. That being said though...that isn't the question at hand. It isn't Tebow or Griffin. It is Tebow and all the players you can possibly get with those picks or Griffin. We have a lot of other holes and Tebow can still develop into a very good QB with a proper offseason. I'm not saying I support that view because I really like Griffin and I wouldn't be mad if it happened, but that's how you have to think of it. I'm still on the edge though regarding who we pick up. My biggest problem with the move is that if Griffin busts because of injuries (normally I think he'll be really successful in the NFL) then we are screwed. We literally would be setting ourselves back for years and years to come. Now if Tebow doesn't work next year, we still have a good framework for the rest of the team and can get a QB to fill that hole next draft while still have a great team for him to join.
