  • TN Titan Michael Griffin

Listening to local radio on Nashville and its been suggested that the Titans won't push to hard to re-sign him. Priority will be Finnegan and a few others. The new coaching has talked about the concerns they have with him. Great in coverage, ballhawk. But they are concerned with some of his problems with being hesitant. If he's allowed to walk, would he be one to look at? My opinion is yes. I'm not sold with who we have currently. I also believe Dawk will retire.

    Thoughts?

you can get a HELL YEA.

Upgrade in tackling, upgrade in coverage. He's like everything we want Carter to be.

Latest on FS Michael Griffin including news, stats, videos, highlights and more on NFL.com

hes definitely performed well in his career. wouldnt take much to upgrade what we have. hes young and would be a hot commodity if he hits FA. we could use him no doubt

john fox would really be interested in him i think. he had charles godfrey in carolina a cb/fs which is exactly what griffin is. a fast ball hawk who tackles nicely

I can't see Dawkins coming back and Griffin would instantly upgrade our struggling secondary.

Plus, unlike the previous two splash signings at safety, he's only 26.

        Absolutely.

It'd be a great signing, and would open a lot of doors in the draft. Plug him in the starting lineup right away and allow the other guys to battle for the remaining spot. I believe competition is the best way to expedite a player's development, so it should be a good thing for Carter/Moore.

It'd be a great addition and a much needed one. Youth, upside, and proven talent all in one signing.

We need a SS, not another FS.

Denver already has two young safeties.

Save the money for a larger need and get more of a vet.

I'd be fine with it. I think we definitley should sign a FA safety and if not him than maybe Tom Zbidowski or Jim Leonhard. I think there are a few other free agent safetys that I cant think of right now as well.

With today's passing game, I think the safeties should be two CBs that can tackle. Both have to cover and tackle, play deep down the field or in the box. Cover man-to-man if necessary. You have to make things harder for the QBs. FS - fast guy in coverage -and SS - stronger guy making tackles - is an outdated concept in my opinion and it allows the QB to make easier reads and find easier matchups.

I agree with you, partially. Troy P. is not outdated. Dawkins is still good. Having a SS that can play in the box is huge for a defense. I think it has an emotional effect on the front seven when a SS makes a big hit and saves their butts when they allow a big hole.

There are SS's out there that are big, can run and cover, and can play in the box.....like George Iloka.

I wouldn't mind him either. I think he would be a great addition. Playing him could help with the development of Rahim and Carter. He wouldn't have to play every down. The way it sounds, he doesn't play every down anyway. Yet he has still been in the league for 5 years, so he somewhat adds that veteran leadership for those guys. And he has been to a pro bowl in his career - so he knows how to be successful. Chances are he will not be as expensive, I don't think, as a Leron Landry. Sounds like a perfect fit.

If we were to get him, what other free agent signing do you think we sign? For what position? I seriously think we need to sign a top Corner. We should let Goodman go, or trade him for cheap. That opens up cap space and a roster spot for someone. I think we should go after Terrell Thomas if he is available or Brandon Carr from the Chiefs. Additionally we should draft a CB too. Our CB's for next year should look something like this:

                        Champ Baily
                        Terrell Thomas/Brandon Carr
                        Chris Harris
                        Sydquan Thomas
                        Vaugn/ Rookie (3rd Round)

we've been spoiled in denver with hard hitting safeties like atwater lynch and dawkins. i think we take that for granted and want all of our safeties to be hard hitting sure tacklers while being servicable in coverage.with that being said i would love laron landry and or micheal griffin lol

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a safety (who's earned a starting position on a team in the NFL) to be able to tackle consistently and be decent in coverage. It's kind of their job, unless they want to change position or fetch water...

well i mean theres types of players that can be said for all positions. and truth is not everyone are good tacklers in the NFL lol. there are ball hawk safetys and tackling safetys. ideally you want a guy who can do both consistently but realistically there arent many of those lol.
