  • End of Season Mock

Well the time has finally come. It's been a great year, but the offseason is here, and after the pats game it cleared a few things up. Here's how I would approach the draft.

    1. Mo Sanu WR from Rutgers. Extremely talented WR who is a bit under the radar due to playing at Rutgers. He's just scratching the surface of his talent. He has good hands and runs pretty good routes. He is master of the slant route, something we need to run more. Mo has good size, and pretty good speed, but most likely wont run a sub 4.5. He is fantastic in space also. Many people say he is similar to Kenny Britt, who was also from Rutgers. We have some young talent at WR in DT and Deck, but that isnt enough. We need more weapons like Rodgers, Brees, and Brady has. With 3 young and talented receivers our passing game will improve tremendously. [Sidenote: I also went to HS with him, so that's a plus]

    2. Derek Wolfe DT from Cinci. DT is still a need, and Wolfe is very impressive. Can get after the QB and defend the run well.

    3. Bernard Pierce RB from Temple. Another RB to add to the stable. McGahee is getting older, Knowshon cant stay healthy, and Ball is mediocre.

    4. David Molk C from Michigan. Dont know if he specifically will be here but we need a backup to JD and someone who can push him. JD has not impressed me this season, but I wont write him off yet.

    5. Cody Johnson FB from Texas. Definitely need a new FB. Larsen is average, and we need someone who can consistently block guys with how dedicated we are to the run game.

    7. BPA.

    Free Agency

I would make sure we got either Terrell Thomas or Tracy Porter. Both good young replacements for Goodman.
If Dawk leaves we should address safety here. Someone likeTom Zbikowski who can immediately come in and start, and have Carter/Moore/Bruton compete for the other spot.
Backup QB must also be addressed, Josh Johnson perhaps.
    Comments/criticism are encourged!

While I agree that RB is a need, everyone forgets about Fannin. The coaching staff was pretty high on him and he was doing great, plus RBs come back from that injury all the time and play well, so I just don't think we'll be drafting an RB in the first 3 rounds unless someone amazing drops into our laps.

Safety... man, we sure have some issues. Carter was starting to get better, but Moore just didn't look like the ballhawk he was supposed to be. Maybe that was our scheme, but I don't know.

I think it might be time to move Champ into Safety, let him start against Carter, imo.

Good Mock Draft but I think Denver ought to draft the BPA and I don't know is Sanu will be the BPA by that time? EFX did a pretty good job last season, I trust they will do it again. I would love to know what they think the teams biggest need is?

Do you realize that Fannin was an undrafted rookie, who missed an entire season? I don't think an undrafted second year player who's never touched an NFL field should dictate any draft picks.

As far as the mock goes, I'm iffy. Sanu isn't really the type of receiver we need, he's like a black Eric Decker (no offense, I'm black, don't report me).

I'd rather go with Kendall Wright, even in the first. And as far as Champ to safety goes, we need at least two more starting quality corners before that move is made.

Maybe the worse mock yet, sorry.

Fans who think Tebow just needs more weapons are delusional. He does not take full advantage of the guys he has now.

We need a RB. Stop talking about Fannin please. What did he do to convince everyone that he's good? Knee injury, fumbling issues, and went undrafted. No thanks.

We need someone who can be a legit #1 back, McGahee comes out every three plays. He's getting old, we need Doug Martin in the 2nd or 3rd round. In the 1st go with Mark Barron or a CB. And pick up an explosive receiver too, but not in the 1st.

I agree on the Fannin part. He has potential but I would think he is more likely to be on the PS.

I also thought about Kendall Wright, because I do think we need to get a speedy receiver, but I just feel like Sanu will be better and more reliable than Wright. I dont really feel like Sanu is just a black Decker, I dont really see it when I watch them. But I would have no issues if we passed up Sanu for Wright because I do like him, and if thats the choice EFX makes I'll trust their judgrment.

If Tebow turns out not to be the guy, wouldnt the new QB need some weapons on offense too?

Decker, DT, JT, and Green are all pretty young guys, shouldn't we let them develop before replacing them. Unless you want Sanu playing 3rd WR, then it is a little wasteful when this team needs starters. There will be vet WRs ready to sign cheap towards the end of FA and both Tebow and our young guys could you a vet or two to help them develop. Would be better for Tim also.

RB is also a position we can upgrade with a cheap vet, particularly if we are talking about splitting time with Willis. We run such a complex run offense, we need a guy who can learn it without learning how to play in the NFL. Moreno will be back also so that is 5 guys we will have at RB. Earnest Graham, Ryan Grant, Jason Snelling, and Derrick Ward would all make good complimentary backs for cheap.

Wolfe seems like a backup to me...not great at anything, can't see him beating out Thomas.

I just see three decent players who will all be reserve guys next year, but no starter or major upgrade in the first 3 rounds.

Just saying, Decker would be ideal in the slot.

                    WR is definitely a need.

                        Hard Hitting Safety

We need a safety who can come up and stop the run and play the pass. Right now our safeties look lost when someone is running right at them. I think a good steal in the 3rd round would be Trumaine Johnson from Montana. He is a small school kid who plays corner back. Right now he is too slow to play corner in the NFL but he is a ball hawk who can hit, could be a great fit at safety in Denver. The Broncos sent scouts to multiple practices and at least one game to watch this guy play.

Fox drafted TWO running backs in the first round, both of which are still effective. See you when we draft one.
