  • Another Mock 1-15-12

Here is my version of a good Mock Draft:
#1 Fletcher Cox DT (Miss State)
    #2 Trumaine Johnson CB (Montana)
#3 Markelle Martin S (OKlahoma State)
    #4 Mike Martin DT (Michigan)
    #5 Ryan Broyles WR (Oklahoma)

These players will help our Broncos in positions where I feel they need the most help.

All these players and where they are expected to be drafted comes from CBS Sports draft prospects page.

Good mock fills a lot of needs I like Minnifield better than Johnson but looks good

Either one would be good but I think Minnifield will be gone before Denvers selection in the 2nd round.

Why are you drafting another safety...

Other than Ryan Broyles I'd be severely disappointed in that draft class

IMO Kirkpatrick would be great if Denver drafted in the top ten but I think him, Jefferey and Hightower will all be gone before Denver ever picks.

The reason I want to draft another safety is Dawkins will probably retire soon, Bruton hasn't been real impressive.

Okay, so that leaves you with 3 sophomores.

Solving a problem of struggling rookies with adding a new rookie the next year is not going to accomplish much, most of the time. A veteran safety would be more efficient.

Unless you take a highly touted S first round such as Mark Barron if he is still available. I think he would easily be an upgrade over all of our safeties. However I agree that a third round safety is likely to not be a solution over our young struggling safeties and would probably not be a wise selection.

I'm also not very familiar with the Oklahoma st safety other than I know from watching a few games that they had many blown coverages behind the secondary. Like the first TD Stanford scored for example. However I don't know for sure if those were his fault or the other safety.

Trumaine is a late third rounder. His character issues will make him drop maybe even early fourth. Other than that, pretty good mock

Good draft except I don't think we need two DTs. Broyles is injury-prone but a great value in the late rounds. Cox, Johnson and Markelle Martin would be helpful additions. I'd rank Martin as the top safety (in a draft weak on safeties). He is skillful and supposedly has much more speed than Carter and Moore.

Am I the only person who saw how good our defense was for most of the season? We need some youth, yes, but we need to find explosive offensive players first.

Ryan Broyles in the 5th? Are you kidding me?

                          Dream. On.

Several websites have him rated as a mid round selection. CBS.com-NFLdraftscout.com has him rated as a 5th rounder and Denver does own the second choice in the fifth round. It is very possible he might be there. Of course no one knows where anyone will be selected at this point.

Badly needed. Dawk likely won't be back and Moore, Carter and Bruton did not do much to warrant faith in a complete turnaround.
Hate List for 2016-2017 Season: 1. Oakland, 2. New England, 3. Kansas City, 4. Pittsburgh and 5. Houston (yes, Houston....)
