  • Franklyn still out of position.

I love Orlando and I think he can help secure the middle. It was he who gave up the sack fumble in the pats game losing the momentum of that drive and leads me to think he isnt a tackle.

Do others still think he should be moved inside after his progression?

Yes he is not giving up two sacks a game, but his his role on passing downs is one of the more questionable.

Absolutely not, one bad game where the ENTIRE OL sucked doesn't mean he should move.

He got better as the season went on.

    Keep him at RT.

I was never high on Orlando Franklin to begin with. He was able to perform in college with poor technique because he's a pretty strong guy. That being said, he's not quick enough around the outside to be playing tackle and he's not a good enough run-blocker to be playing guard. He reacts slowly and tends to let defenders get into his body before putting his hands on them.

To your point, I think he ultimately needs to go back to playing guard, but our run offense will suffer as a result. I think Franklin's best hope (unless he really gets his technique fixed) is to be a career backup (and a versatile one at that, being able to back up OG or OT), which apparently we need these days with the injuries we keep getting.

Wow - I have heard all the experts refer to out OL as one of, if not the best OL in all of football this year. And we are young... Will we give up sacks, yes, every team has so many players going after the QB that it will happen. We lead the league in rushing this year and Tim had tons of time to throw the ball. Franklin played well for a rookie year without all the training camps. Give the guy a chance.

fox loves his right tackles to be run blockers. he had jeff otah in carolina whos 6'6 330, franklin 6'7 330 almost a spitting image. franklin and clady will be our tackles for the next 10 years and they will only get better. he was a steal in the second round how many guys who were selected in the first this year aside tyron smith out played him and started the whole year?

Nope keep him at RT, he was probably our best OL from week 8 on. He struggled early but came together as the season went on.

If we could find a suitable replacement at RT I'd be ok with moving him to G, but there isn't a whole lot available this going to be better than Franklin (if anyone).

It'll be interesting to see how the team uses Ryan Harris. When healthy he is better than a guy like Beadles so would they move Franklin inside in certain situations? Or do they just have him take over the Chris Clark role?

I don't know how many times I have to post this but, Franklin got so much better as the year went on. He was definitely one of the better pass protecting right tackles in the league, and one of the best run blocking right tackles from the start, that's pretty damn impressive from a second round pick. The great thing is that Franklin isn't a guy who's maxed out his potential, this is just the start. I said when we were scouting him that he's athletic enough to be a left tackle much less a right tackle but really lacked the experience and technique needed to be a great pass protector. But we're starting to see how as each game went on he got better and better in his pass protection and that is just going to continue given that you keep him at the same position. A lot of people seem to think that guard is a position that you can put just about anyone in, which isn't even close to the case. Guards use a lot of technique too, and if you move Franklin inside he's going to struggle at first too. In college, Miami really messed up with his development by moving him all over the line, having him play basically every position except center, as a result he really didn't have great technique at either the tackle or the guard position in the NFL. Moving him now is going to destroy his development and would start him from square one.

Also it is worth mentioning that Russ Hochenstein was playing next too Franklin in the Pats game and it was pretty obvious that he got beaten pretty badly throughout the game. When that guard next to you gets beaten so bad you are making life very hard for that guard as he now easily can just disengage and go inside for the sack. We've actually seen this a lot of times this year on the left side when Beadles got beaten and Clady's guy got through as well.

The most important thing for this very young line is to continue to grow together and to not fiddle with it too much. You need to let them develop together as the overall line play this year was actually pretty solid, and considering the youth we have the potential to have a great offensive line for the next 10 or so years, that's pretty special.

This thread is so stupid. Franklin was GREAT for a rookie this year at right tackle. He's been mauling defensive ends and getting to the second level against every opponent. Sure he gave up some sacks, but he was protecting the blind side of Tebow, which is probably the hardest offensive line job in the NFL.

He's improved quite a bit throughout the season but I think he'd do a lot better at guard. He doesn't have the lateral movement to protect the edge which is how teams have attacked him. That's not knocking him at all. The guy is a straight up bulldozer.

Was signing Harris a one time deal?

Orlando Franklin will be fine at RT because that's where we will see him line up during the 2012 season.

Franklin actually didnt have a bad game against the patriots. Chris Clark our extra lineman who was playing tightend got dominated on nearly every snap though.

It does not matter if Franklin is out of position. The Broncos put him at RT and never looked back. I don't think John Fox will change his mind this offseason. Just get used to it and hope for the best.

Whenever I watched Franklin, he did not look good. I think the Broncos need a more polished RT. I would recommend Anthony Collins in FA.

Could have sworn I heard it was for 2-years. I think Lindsay Jones posted it on twitter. So he should be under contract for this season if that holds true. Just have to hope his medical history clears up.
