  • Walton and Beadles

From Pro Football Focus: "Walton finished the season as easily the worst grades center in the NFL and Beadles was among the worst guards in the league as well."

I know it was only their second year and they didn't have an offseason. But I think its a major liability having these two guys. I think our oline looked much better than it is because we ran the ball so much. Either were gonna need them to significantly improve or we need to upgrade atleast one of them. I wouldn't mind peter konz if maybe we traded down or if he fell to our second( I dont think he would).

Really? I thought our Oline was pretty good them included.

Tebow had tons of time pretty often.

That's because teams rarely blitzed. The oline held up all right against a four man rush, but look at games with Orton at QB or the playoff loss. When teams blitzed the oline was simply overwhelmed.

Stop reading Pro Football Focus and start watching the O-Line play for yourself. You don't need a bunch of ignorant jackasses who know nothing about offensive line play telling you what you're seeing.

I've been saying all year that our O-Line SUCKS. We have benefited greatly with Tebow because he can scramble, he's a threat as a runner so teams wouldn't blitz us, they would just try to contain him. Tebow covered up the problems we have on pass pro and in the running game.

I still say we need to move Beadles to RT and Franklin to OG. But we'll see what happens in the offseason.

EDIT: SAM, I guess i'm a jackass. Not because I read PFF, but because my eyes tell me we suck.

Our OL was brilliant IMO, The biggest plus on the team.

McGahee went over 1000 and we were ranked the #1 rushing team.

Tebow often had lots of time to throw.

The only time I got annoyed was when Beadles gave that stupid penalty away after the TD against NE.

Simms also said from what he has seen on tape we have one of the best OL's in the league.

We have a young line that will only get better. IMO I think next year they will be dominant! GO BRONCOS! !

They are more than servicable and still have potential. They are young and have a long way to go but are not the worst in the league nor the best. However they were on an offensive line which blocked for the first Denver broncos 1000 yard rusher in quite a few years and on a line which broke the Denver Broncos yards rushing in a single season.

However like a lot of Mcdaniels players they were used very very wrong. They both come from zone blocking backgrounds and were not suited for what Mcdaniels wanted to do. However with Fox here and actually putting his players in positions to succedd and putting them in spots to maximise there talent they have grown a long way and will continue to. As we move forward and do not rely on man blocking as much anymore they will continue to get better.

They do not need to be replaced. They can get it done more so than other guys we have on the team in other positions. I have been as critical as anyone of Walton especially over the last off season and early in the 2011 season but he has improved and will continue to. If they suck next year then maybe think about early round compensation at Center and Guard but until then. We have our starting 5 for next year.

Plus I have never though much of these rankings this website gives out. Some love them but I dislike them. How they come to their rankings is all in the eyes of the anlysis and somehow they put a grade on it. Is it based on how well the running back goes running behind them or what because I could think of a bunch of things that could affect that other than bad offensive line play.

Our offensive line is good. Not a worry part of the team at all.

alot of that is based purely on tebow.

i can say this beadles was destroying guys when he trapped this year.

thats not saying pancakes but was sealing the lane very well.

That's why you should stick to your own two eyes when grading players. Walton wasn't great by any means, but Beadles had a great year in the run game and pretty decent year in protection.

I'm not an expert on their site...

But from what I understand they watch every snap of every game for every player and grade them based on how they do. I'm pretty sure their grading scale is from -1 to 1 for each play. So if they have a lot of positive plays then their rating will be good. If they have more negative plays then it will be bad.

I wouldn't say they are end all and that their word is law, but it is a useful tool. I like to browse their rankings to look at potential free agents for instance. I don't just use them though. Just one more opinion.
