  • Who to pair with Peyton

As you all probably know by now Denver is more then interested in Manning, in fact they are meeting with him today in Denver. Lets assume that these talks go great and he signs with Denver sometime next week. Do we then go after a guy who he already knows a ton about in Reggie Wayne, or maybe even Garcon. Another option would be to look at a big name guy like Meachem, Colston, VJax, or Mike Wallace (giving up 25 overall). I think we go after one of the elite recievers. This will not only help us in the short run, but also after Peyton leaves. Signing a Wayne seems like a real short term patch because lets be honest, Decker simply can not play the number 2.

Manning has made a career of making no-name receivers look like superstars. Who's to say that if we can land him, that Decker isn't a viable number 2? I think what we shore up is the OL to provide protection and keep what we in place on that side of the ball.

If Jeff Saturday were to follow Manning here, that would go a long way to shoring up that OL for us.

I think he'd do just fine with thomas and decker.

But having one of those guys wouldn't hurt.

I'd prefer Pierre Garcon over Reggie Wayne, because Garcon's only 25.

If you were in management shoes would you not want another weapon for manning? We have the money to do just that, our o-line has some holes yes but if Saturday comes in the deal we are more then good enough.

I think we might be OK with the receivers if Royal is brought back. A great QB will make those guys shine. That said, I don't really get the move - so Peyton comes in an makes us competitive for a couple of years (not SB competitive - too many holes yet), and then he's gone. Meanwhile Tebow hasn't gained game experience or is gone and we're right back where we were when Elway retired.

What are the major holes your talking about? i am not saying there are no holes on this team obviously there (no SB victory). I think Elway brings him in to TEACH Tebow how to throw the ball, kind of like Favre to Rodgers. Rodgers was not an all-pro quarterback coming out of college lets be honest. The packers have had young quarterbacks learn from a great and i think it could work in Denver.

If we can package Manning, Wayne/Garcon, and Saturday that would be more ideal. Then if we go Fleener in the 1st, that would be all the weapons he needs. Getting a DT in FA and the 2-3 round as well as CB in the other, how will we not be competitive enough for the SB?

Tebow got us 2 games deep. Lets be honest, Manning is hand over fist better than Tebow. I am a fan of Tebow, so don't think otherwise.

Tebow has game experience, and we've seen that he knows how to be clutch and how to move the ball when it matters most.

What he could use is more tutelage with decision-making and reading defenses. Can you think of a better QB...in history...who is better equipped as a mentor for those skills than Peyton?

I feel like him and Wayne are package deals. Whoever signs Manning has to promise to sign Wayne. And why wouldn't we? He gets his #1 reciever, and DT. Along with the Reciever he wanted the Colts to draft in Eric Decker as his slot. Let Royal walk, as sad as that would be, or let him be our main ST's guy.

I know my OPINION isn't going to be liked at all around here, but I think we'd bring in Anthony Gonzalez. He played well for the Colts before his injury. He'd be a cost friendly signing that has 5yrs experience in 18's offense.

I believe we will trade Tebow and draft someone. A pure pocket passer would benefit more from learning under Manning than Tebow would.

                          Thomas, Decker and Royal.......

I want Royal if Manning comes. If not, I can understand why Royal would leave. None of our Qb's have utilized him correctly in my opinion.

Maybe we go after Wallace if we cant get wayne.....again, if we get Manning...

wayne preferably. maybe garcon but im not sure he is looking for number 2 money which should be in the nieghborhood of 5-6 mill a year. if that is what garcon is looking for in a longterm deal then we should go after him. im sure reggie wayne still wants to get paid and will ask for number 1 money which he deserves. i think might be somewhere around 8 mill hopefully im overestimating on that but ptobably not.

Of those two, probably Garcon, he's young, and we don't have any speedsters like him.

And Decker is kinda similar to Wayne.
