  • Manning - Morenos Third Chance?

Moreno is a good utility back, awesome 3rd down back in pass protection, and has good hands.
He is not an everydown hb. He is not a power runner.

I will predict that he will have a good showing in OTAs and camp to prove his worth in the pass game.
Anybody else think we can use his skillset in the passing game now that Peyton is our QB?

Is a rb a big priority with this switch?

i think manning will maximize knowshons skillset as a 3rd down and recieving back. its knowshons chance to establish himself as a productive role player in the nfl. i dont think he is at the end of the road yet i think if he was cut today he would get calls in 10 minutes. he is still a bust of a 12th pick but can definetly play a part in the broncos 2012 sucess.

as for the posisition overall i dont see it as a priority but if the oppurtunity knocks then open the door rather thats jonothan stewart or doug martin in the second.

This is a good point. Manning could revive Moreno's career. An almost lock to be traded before, could end up being a huge weapon for us. I still hold hope for you Knowshon.

I am not a Moreno fan at all.....Not a shock to some of you......But signing manning is 100% perfect for him. This O that we are going to run is made for him. a few carries, some blocking assignments, a lil goal line, and a lot of routes and dump offs. If he doesn't succeed in this O he has no business in the NFL. I really look for him to have a HUGE season. I think that he pushes McGhee to the bench and actually gets 1500 combined yards....If he stays healthy

Moreno is basically going to be our Joseph Addai.

A back who can catch the ball. Isn't really fast. Gets injured alot. Best for 3rd downs

Moreno should be good for us. He is a good pass catcher and is solid after the catch. He can run alright and will have more value in this offense now. We still need a running back though. Mcgahee gets worn out quick. I like him but a true split load between a draft pick early would be good. Or a guy like Benjarvus Green-Ellis or Tim Hightower who are still free agents.

He is a bust. I hate saying it, but he is. However, he is not nearly as bad as people on here think he is. Blocking, catching, being explosive when in the open field. He was the best Rb his rookie year from that class. Obviously McCoy and others have taken over his spot, but getting rid of him wouldn't make sense. He looked good during pre-season and averaged 4.8 yards a carry before getting hurt AGAIN this year.

                - I say keep him because I am biased, but I am a huge fan of LeMichael James and wouldn't be upset if we got him in the third

I would love to see that happen unfortunately I think he probably gets injured but I hope not. I hope Fanin turns out for us and I would love to add BJGE, that would be awesome

This is a surprisingly refreshing, good thread ...

As much as I dislike Moreno as a player he can play well as a receiving back...

Also along these same lines THIS ALSO APPLIES TO MARIO FANNIN who actually because of Ben Tate played as much if not more WR than RB in college

That's what I was thinking, or he must just be in a good (Peyton Manning influenced) mood

Was thinking the same thing. Like moreno but he has been a total bust so far.
If you even dream of beating us you'd better wake up and apologize.

Definitely make or break time for him. Contract year, has to reestablish himself after a major injury and off season "saucing", and no excuse to fail.

I like Moreno, but if he can't be productive under Manning and behind the #1 rushing attack from last year, then it is time to move on.

Also on the topic of Moreno, does anyone think the reason he gets hurt so often is the way he runs? He can make guys miss like no other, but he seems to run a little more, I guess loose would be the way I would describe it. Legs wider to get more sideways movement instead of compact churning. Might just be me trying to find a reason for him being made of glass however.

I hope he gets run out of town. Bum, waste of a pick.
