You are talking FA....I am talking the draft.....Every year they acquire extra picks and every year they blow the selections. Especially in the second round......Stay put and get the talent. Dont fall back and watch 2 picks fail. We have a hard enough time drafting quality players....

No, we're talking about the same thing. I'm just using Free Agency to show you how they do things. I agree. They aquire enough picks every year to trade up and draft a STUD, but they never do it. They prefer to sign solid-good FAs, and draft "role players". Players that may not be that good if they had to stand alone, but they're good as long as the "leader" is on the field.

Well that is the thing.....I dont think the DT that we are going to get at 25 is that much better than what we would get in the 2nd. Besides you dont take the 5th best at a position when the 1st best MLB or 2nd best CB is still on the board........I think that this draft is a really good one for us to ditch our 1st round pick and get a second 1st next season. That way we can get a big time stud to fill a hole

I see your point and it is another way of going about it. But I think the strategy of EFX is going to focus more on the now...Payton only has a few years left and we want the big one...couple that with the deepest DT draft in years and it is a major hole...I feel we need to bite and take advantage of as much of it as we can

Fair enough and good feedback. We are getting close, I just think we had so many picks the last two years, we may go for quality. Even parlaying our 1st 4 picks into 2 players, leaves 4 picks left for depth/diamonds in the rough type guys.

I see our roster as this:

RB 1 guy already (need 2/3 ) Moreno, Ball, Johnson, Fanin competing
FB 1 guy already (may add competition)
TE 4 guys already (think we are set)
WR 4 guys already (need 2 more) Dell and Hill competing /w many more
OL 6 guys already (Need 2/3 more)

So 40 locked in and 13 spots open. I figure we fill 5 spots with current resources and maybe add a vet or two (always seem to go clearance sale shopping after draft). So I see maybe 5 spots we can add to this team through the draft, and will add 4-5 UDFA for camp competition.

Opinions will vary on the 5 current resources though.

Why is everyone so high on Martin? Ok he's good but he's not first round or second round good in my book. Everyone says watch the senior bowl and the practices. Well I have. I still dont see Martin in the first or second round. I went back and watched the only true defense Boise State played all year in Georgia and they bottled him up. I truley only see 3 RBs going in the first 2 rounds. Richardson, Millerm and Wilson. Someone is going to over draft Martin and I hope to God its not us. I think Martin could be a good "role" player, but if im drafting a RB in the first 2 rounds Im taking that player to be a role player but to be a workhouse.

I know this league is now a do it by committee but I dont see Martin doing anything more than what McGahee has done for us.

When you draft in the first round, you're looking for a home run player, and the fact that an RB can be decent with a decent OL doesn't necessarily mean that an RB can't be a home run player. The logic just isn't sound; players at every position benefit from those around them, although QBs probably benefit the least.

Do you also believe that a Walter Payton or a Gale Sayers would have only have been as good Mike Anderson was on his Denver teams? I would argue that they would have been significantly better than Mike Anderson, all other things being equal.

I also am not a big believer in Martin. I'm no expert but he doesn't seem to have the power or burst that you would expect out of a first round talent. Miller's got the speed but he seems to go down too easily after contact.

Kendall Wright is who I want! He's so quick in and out of breaks, great hands, crazy athletic and great top end speed. Our offense would be scary with DT, Wright at flanker, Decker in the slot. Not to mention tamme and dreesen in the mix. Our offensive schemes and personal groupings would be limitless.

Calling BS in so many ways here...First he resigned Joe Mays who is probably the least athletic LB in the league, and his best LB he had was Dan Morgan who was never that athletic......Also Lofton is one of the most athletic LB in the league....I think that you are grasping at straws

Well just to make one correction ...the best LB he ever had was Jon Beason hands down

I see where you're coming from. Like I said before, i'd love to draft DeCastro to play OC. But i'm just not convinced that we'll trade up for him. IMO, this draft is going to be about solidifying the D-Line, O-Line, and RB position.

I believe we will double dip at the DT position, early. Vickerson, Warren, and McBean are all in the final year of their contracts. And none of them screems re-sign.

Beadles is a OT,IMO. And he needs to be replaced at OG. Walton needs to be replaced. Clady, T.Hills, and R. Harris are in the final year of their contracts.

I think that this is going to be the last year for McGahee. I know we signed him to a 4yr deal, but 2yrs just screamed out to me when we signed him. IMO, Moreno is on his last leg. If he doesn't stay healthy this year, he's done as a Bronco.

So because of these things that i've mentioned, I think we either stay where we're at, or we trade back. But I can't see us trading up, although I won't rule it out.

Anyone else out there not sure of him being a number one guy next year? He's got upside but so did moreno and that sure worked out. Even if he is talented enough. He aways seems to be hurt. If he gets hurt I really don't trust Willis. I just hope they get some wr help

Once he got healthy he proved he had the ability by picking up the 2nd most yards among all NFL receivers in the month of December, second only to Megatron. He's finally coming on strong and is set to have a monster year, especially with Manning at QB.

If he gets hurt Decker will be our #1. We're likely to draft another WR, but it won't be high considering DT looks to be legit; it'll be more of a depth move for a situation you're referring to. Willis also looked alright and may end up looking like Collie did with Manning at the helm.

Manning makes the receivers. We could stick scrubs in there and I think we'll be alright.
