  • Why we need to draft offensive linemen

Can we all say PPM at the same time. That means Protect Peyton Manning. Tebow could have done a bit better had we given him a bit more time to throw the ball. I fear for Peytons life with our pathetic offensive line. Let's get Peyton more time back there. Of course I know he has a much quicker release but still, I say O line then D line then one stellar WR.

Manning protects himself with his quick release.

That's why we don't need to invest in OL. Depth is another story.

OP, I agree with you 1000%. We need O-lineman in the worst way. Starters and depth.

Are you kidding me?! I love Tebow, but the line gave him plenty of time to throw. There would be times where he would stand back in the pocket for 6 or 7 seconds before taking off and running. Look at his highlights from this year...nearly all of his big passing plays happened because he had great protection and the receivers had enough time to gain some separation.

I agree that we need improved O-line play (Walton needs work everywhere and Franklin needs to improve his pass blocking [which was very improved by the end of the year, he is headed in the right direction])

Watch those highlight, nearly every long pass play we had was thanks to some amazing pass protection. Tebow was great at getting away from defenders, but a lot of the time he didn't need to.

Keep in mind that McDaniels drafted Walton and Beadles because of their pass blocking strength.

Our offensive line is currently better than the one he had in Indy

That said if we get someone like Konz or Glenn in the first I would not be upset at all

I think he could do fine with Walton and Beadles, but they eventually need to be replaced

              I agree
I dont know why so many on here dog on Franklin but he was really solid for us last year
Considering he had never played the position before, I think we have a potential stud on our hands

Unfortunately, we can't trust Pro Football Focus. We have no idea of how the front office evaluated the OL after the season. Maybe they have plans to replace Walton, but they did not outbid the Packers to get Jeff Saturday. Maybe they want to move Franklin to LG. Ryan Harris might be a better option at RT with Peyton Manning as the QB. Good pass protection will be more important than having a mauler for the running game. The only problem is that we can't trust Harris' health. LG, C, RT: these positions might get new players through draft picks. Or the front office will simply add depth and let the starters gather more experience with continuity.

Franklin was a good starter, and wasn't half as bad as people claim he was in protection. He'll start, Kuper will start, and Clady will start, and Harris can be a swing back up. We could use a starter or depth for the Beadles/Walton area, but not a huge need.

Move Franklin to LG and move Beadles to RT. Harris can be our Swing Tackle.

Beadles was mediocre at best at RT as a rookie. That creates more problems than it solves.

                        This sums it up nicely.

the "move franklin to guard" theory is proposed only by people here, and other fans. Beadles or Walton might be moved, but Franklin did nothing to show anybody that it was a mistake putting him at RT.

That's what I would like to see, but I doubt they will make this move. Beadles has longer arms than Riley Reiff and he was a 3-year starter at LT for Utah.

There were multiple times when Tebow was hit 2 seconds after the snap thanks to Franklin.

He was also considered an "Elite OT" when he was in college, but because Scouts believed that his arms were to short to play LT in the NFL, they projected him as an OG, and Mayock projected him as a OC.

Fox drafted LT Jordan Gross, and he has damn near the same measurables as Beadles. I'm not saying that Beadles is Gross, but Beadles measurables won't scare Fox away from trying him at RT if he see fit to.
