  • go big with defensive tackle

If we do end up taking a defensive tackle then we should take one around 340 pounds. A player of this size doesn't have to rely on technique as much and can make a difference from the start the two guys that stand out are poe and taamu

To back up your statement look at Marcel Dareus for the Bills last year. 340 pounds and no one was able to push him around. He kinda flew under the radar a bit, but he did his job overly well.

Dareus has skills along with size. Poe and Ta'amu do not have his skill set.

It really doesn't back up his statement because Dareus has good technique along with size.

Otherwise he wouldn't have gone number 3.

Ta'amu doesn't have a skillset? Not sure if that post was serious or what.

Yea I watched plenty of Bills games last year (unfortunately) so I know he's skilled. I was just trying to say that a big 340 pound DT definitely comes with some advantages.

Shouldn't matter though. Poe will most likely be gone by time we draft, and I don't see us going anywhere near Ta'amu.

no. Not like Marcell dareus. Do you think he is the same quality of player as dareus?

As a 4-3 DT Ta'amu is just as good if not better. However in a 3-4 Dareus is far and away better.

On topic, I somewhat agree. Fox generally has at least 1 huge DT.

Our defensive line is pretty one dimensional as it is. We don't have a single guy that is above average against the run and above average at generating pass rush. I'm not sure we even have a guy that is average at both. (I'll put Vickerson and Warren in the ? category because we have limited knowledge of how either will be performing.) Normally I'm all for getting lighter pass rushers, bigger run defenders, asking ourselves who can we get that will be able to contribute the most in at least one way. However, we could really use some balanced players on the defensive line. This really showed up last year when the opposing team could do either and then we ended up showing we couldn't stop either.

When Bama played the 4-3 formations was so ineffective at times they took him off the field. If we were drafting 4-3 DTs that draft Dareus was a mid to late prospect. Also ta'amu is not a 4th round prospect...

Our defense is always under sized. If we want dt we need big guys so we can collapse the line. Just the size alone would make a difference add that with del Rio coaching them and its a win win

                              ok, maybe 3rd round.

Believe whatever you like, dareus and Ta'amu are not even close to the same skill set. Buffalo will be playing a 4-3 next season, we will see if you are right. I think dareus will do very well.
