  • I think we have 4 main needs - Which of these would you take in the first

This is a sample from a post I did in another thread. I don't think we have any major needs but these 4 are the main one's IMO. We could just go BPA.

WR - Love our top 2. Stokeley is great but we need a long term replacement. Not a Willis fan. I would LOVE to draft a young stud and have 3 really good, young receivers in DT, Decker and the rookie.

TE - Tamme and Dreesen are doing well, Virgil Green is starting to feature more, but a top level TE could take this O to another level.

DT - Every year this comes up. Bannan and Vickerson are solid but a dominant force would be great.

MLB - Mays is a ST player, back-up. Brooking a stop-gap, Irving 'could' be that guy but who knows. I would LOVE to pair Teo with Miller but he will go too high.

I have not seen much college football so will need help, I will get these players from draft websites in terms of 1st round projections. I will not list players I believe will go too high in the first. i.e. Teo. Say we pick from #20 onwards.

    WR - Keenan Allen*, WR, California - 6-2, 215 - 4.49 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L288axFqYRc

    Justin Hunter**, WR, Tennessee - 6-4, 200 - 4.48 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5M09m2Sd5s

    Robert Woods*, WR, USC - 6-1, 180 - 4.40 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGyEXBEyMh4

    Terrance Williams, WR, Baylor - 6-3, 205 - 4.50 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXcPv...eature=related

    DeAndre Hopkins*, WR, Clemson - 6-1, 200 - 4.40 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfYf_p6bPaM

    TE - Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame - 6-6, 251 - 4.7 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2FocYeiuE0

    DT - Kawann Short, DT, Purdue - 6-3, 310 - 5.05 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tljz8vIcdkc

    Jonathan Jenkins*, DT, Georgia - 6-3, 351 - 5.55 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTibvdL-VEQ

    Louis Nix*, DT, Notre Dame - 6-5, 326 - 5.55 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5o85i4lPRz0 (no h/lights I can find)

MLB - Alec Ogletree*, ILB, Georgia - 6-3, 236 - 4.61 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMenVpuvW8U (missed 4 games this year due to failed drug test)

So any of these you like ? Lots of receiving options

I love Ogltree as a player but has those off the field issues that will probably make Elway stay away from him.

I wouldnt mind any of those DTs. But I'm really starting to like Nix more and more.

Woods would probably be the one to most likely make it our pick. And would fit great in this offense.

I don't think TE is that big of a need. IMO strong safety is more of a need.

I think our DT's are doing a pretty good job over all. They keep the opponents OL off our LB's so they can make plays. Our #1 asset is Peyton Manning and we need to always protect him. Our offensive line is doing good when healthy but when someone goes down to injury we have no depth. We need all the positions you have mentioned but IMO we need someone like Barrett Jones (OL Alabama) who can back up every OL position and can someday be our starting C when needed.

I think Saftey is a bigger need than TE or WR.

Overall Id agree with that assessment on our needs...but maybe safety or a line position could be included.

Anyways, Teo is going to be a stud but yea hes definitely going to be top 10 material. Not to avert too much from the main topic of the thread but what do you think it would take to trade up to get him? Could DJ Williams and a 1st and some other pick get us up there? Would that be worth it?

And if we can't make that happen Id say draft best player available between DT, WR, and MLB...but I would be strongly looking at DT in this case.

Quinton Carter comes back this coming year, and I expect him to transition back pretty well. He'll do alright, I think, across from Moore.

I still trust Dreesen, Tamme, and Green 100 times more than I do Adams, Moore, and Carter after missing a year.

Oh, yeah. I suppose I did insinuate that, didn't I? Our TEs are solid. I really hope Carter comes back strong, like in the end of last year. He looked really promising, and Moore has made serious strides into becoming a cog. If the two plan out like we hope... oh boy.

Hands down it's Defensive Tackle for me. And I want the best DT in this years draft, Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri. I don't know why people aren't talking about him around here. But Richardson is the best 3tech i've seen in years. I'm not gonna write a book about Richardson, but i'll tell you this much, i'd trade this years 2nd rd pick and next years 4th to get him in a Broncos Uni!!! This guy is a BEAST!!! And if you haven't seen him, you might want to take a look! You'll thank me later :thumb:

I would say our biggest needs are DT, MLB, and DE. WR and especially TE don't seem like big needs to me. Caldwell signed a two year deal so I think we can put off drafting a WR for at least another year even if Stokley retires. Plus we are likely going to have to give DT and Decker decent contracts down the road, so drafting a receiver in the first (unless you plan on them being a replacement for one of those guys) doesn't make much sense to me.

Im hoping that Wolfe moves to DT full time next season which means we need a solid nose tackle next to him. I was hoping Siliga would turn into that player, but it appears his mini camp hype wasnt warranted. Vickerson is solid and will likely be re-signed. DT is definitely a possibility late in the first round. Maybe a guy like Kawann Short out of Purdue?

With Wolfe moving to his natural position DE also becomes a big need. I like Ayers and we will be getting Hunter and Beal back as well, but I wouldn't rule us out taking a DE with our top pick. DraftCountdown has us taking Bjoern Werner out of Florida State who is a very interesting prospect. I liked everything I read about him. He definitely sounds like a guy Fox and Del Rio would like on defense.

MLB is obviously an issue as well. A lot depends on what happens with DJ this offseason Woodyard has earned the right to keep his spot on the weakside, so perhaps Williams will have to prove himself in the middle? I like Nate Irving as well and still have high hopes for him, but if we could get Arthur Brown in the 2nd I think he would be a great fit for our defense.

Yes he is. I started a thread about him here about a month ago.

He's a great athlete and has a non stop motor. Definitely a first round talent.

IMO the greatest need for the Broncos is at Mike Backer and next is DT. Other areas that need to be augmented are DB, RB and WR. It will be interesting to see what the Broncos do.

We are developing a good rotation at DT this season. They are younger, except for Bannan, and will only get better. I think we can get a DT in the second or third round but as much as I like Kuper he is our week link. Behind our starting five, we have nothing to brag about. We need to protect Manning and keep our running game going. Jones is the best and most versatile of the OL in the draft and won't get out of the first round. I think ILB would be next highest need position.

If we dont move up, Id love Short or Williams in the first.
