I have zero to base this on but I don't think it's that low. $10M in cap just doesn't seem right to me. They would barely even be able to sign all of their draft picks at that range. I would also throw out there some issues like DJ's restructuring which we are unsure of. If the cap is that low than I think DJ being gone is a certainty.

edit...Pro Football Talk has us at $12M under so you were pretty close :thumb:

We lost some room with the pro bowl bonuses kicking in, Champ alone got 4M for making the PB.

Luckily Clady is the only big money player we need to sign this offseason. A guy like Joe Mays will almost certainly be cut to make some extra room. I think Kuper or Champ would be willing to restructure if need be. That said last offseason was the big spending season and this will be a retain and add through the draft offseason. I don't expect any big name FA's from other teams unless they want to take a big discount to play with Manning and the Broncos.

          Possible savings (if cut):

          Doom 11.75M
          DJ 5.75M
          Kuper 4.2M
          Champ 8M
          McGahee 1M

Obviously not suggesting we cut anyone, just showing the cap savings. Not a lot of room to renegotiate Champ due to signing bonus and guarantees that have kicked in. speaking of which, Manning gets his next two years guaranteed (20m per year) by passing a physical in March. He could negotiate that down to a SB spread over the next few years and save a few million, not a lot, but some. Not the best idea given it could become dead money.

            - I thought we had more cap room than that.
            - Don't we get an extra 2-3 mil for the thing every team got, every team got a few extra mil i think.
            - I'd just sign Clady, a franchise LT in his prime, pay him his $$.
            - Didn't know if Carter was RFA or UFA, glad we'll get him for another year.
            - I'd also work on extensions for other players (Decker/Woodyard)
            - Brooking isn't that important, yes he lines everyone up but he has no lateral quickness. DJ at MLB would be fine.

Will be interesting to see Elway and the cap guy work the cap now, and for the next few years.

Wow we need to restructure contracts and/or cut some players. Need some space to re-sign players and sign rookies.

Guys say teo was still available at pick number 5 would anyone be interested in a trade with us if we offered Dumerville and our number 1 picks in 2014 and 2015.We would keep our no32.(SB HOPEFUL) for 2013 so we could draft a DE but our 1st rd picks in 2014 and 2015 along with Dumerville go to say Detroit and we then have teo so we get rid of DJ and save 5.75 million and we save 11.75 million with doom thats 17.5M collectively.Blackmon was the5th pick of the 2012 draft and hes only on 400,000 so if we get a spare 17 million boy then we can do some damage in free agency.Especially if we then say thanks champ for your efforts but for 8 million plus 17 million we could get the top free agent CB Available.Champ has been great but he aint getting any younger or cheaper.I would wait a year for the champ move though and sign a good free agent DT this off season.Your thoughts.

Champs deal is actually team friendly, with low guarantees in case his play falls off. He earns what he makes and is still a top 10 CB.
Doom is overpaid, but that was in part to taking a low signing bonus. This past year was the last guaranteed year so I expect we will try and renegotiate to a more reasonable number.

Do you think its feasible that the draft trade could work re Dumerville.

                          We're not trading Doom.

He has 11 sacks, 6 FF's and is in the top 10 in pressure.

Miller wouldn't be able to do what he does w/o Doom.

I'd like to see him restructure so we can re-sign some of our core players to new deals.

Wow, we might lose some people. Hopefully Koppen will come back for cheap.

Resigning Clady will consume almost all of that.

Is it true that signing bonuses don't count towards the cap?
