  • Wes Welker or a speed guy?

I think Welker would be a great fit in Denver with Peyton, but do you think a speed guy would be better? Peyton doesn't have the arm he use to have to hit the speed guy down the field.

I'm guessing they wouldn't pay for a Welker, but his experience and 3rd down threat would make this offense a couple notches better.

I disagree with your assumption that Peyton doesn't have the arm he used to hit the speed guy down the field. You don't have to have Flacco's arm to hit guys down the field. Manning will be another year past his surguries and he will look even better. Welker will be overpriced and I believe he's a product of the NE system. Look at his stats at Miami. I think the Broncos need a young, speed guy to stretch the field.

Another New England "cast-off"? Haven't we learned that lesson?

What was one of Elway's top priorities? Build through the Draft (it's far cheaper), and through young, sensibly priced, FAs with some upside. Sure, we picked up a few temporary players with some miles on them when we were desperate, but there are a lot of talented, inexpensive, young WRs available in FA AND the Draft.

I agree,i was thinking the same thing. With a good signing bonus and an average base salary i think we could swing a deal for Welker. If Manning as a say in it i know he will tell John to pull the string on getting Welker.Another weapon for Peyton is always a good thing. We can add Welker and not add Caldwell.

Also, knowing everything about New England could help us in the playoffs.

I'm in favor of austin or welker. It's crucial we get one in my opionion this year. Welker is the best slot receiver in the game and stokley at most has one year. If we draft one to replace stokley, it needs to be as soon as possible so he can start developing chemistry with peyton for the next 4 years.

Are you talking about Welker? Give "Welker" respect? I respect the guy. I would love it if he had been a Bronco his entire career. And, the guy is going to require, and deserve, a decent payday when somebody signs him.

But, I'd rather go the "Elway" direction and pick up an inexpensive, young, talented WR in FA, or a WR in the Draft. My point is, why in the world are the Patriots not giving Welker a HUGE contract? Hasn't he paid his dues? Doesn't he deserve it from New England? Or, could it be that New England believes Welker is used up, or simply not worth the money? How many New England players have we signed since the worst coach in Broncos history came here, from New England, to coach? And how many have worked out for us? Rather than taking New England cast-offs, maybe we could do a better job Drafting (like the last 2 years), and come up with our own Welker's who we can cut when they get old and price themselves out of the market.

would rather sign Amendola. Or draft Tavon, Bailey, Patton or Sanders as slots

I agree with taking a younger option but that's no reason to bad mouth the guy. Free agency hasn't even started yet. I'm sure NE is looking to see what kind of contracts he will be getting offered before they offer him one. You think he wants to retire on another team? I don't. I see him taking a hometown discount to play with his boy Brady. For the record I HATE Welker and Brady but I respect the hell out of them.

Welker would be a great option for a year or 2 if he isn't too expensive. In the draft I like Chad Bumphis. He is a much better value pick than guys like Austin and Wheaton. A 1st/2nd round pick is way too high for a WR right now. Those spots would be much better used on Dline, DB, Oline, or LB.

Patton is my choice. See his highlights and looks like someone that can excell here and can be had for a 2nd round pick...thats if his stock doesnt rise.
