  • Per Rotoworld Broncos Will try to Trade DJ Williams

The Denver Post says the Broncos will try and trade LB D.J. Williams once the new league year starts on March 12. Williams is due $6 million in the final year of his deal, and he's coming off a multi-suspension season. Plus, he's 30 years old, so unloading that salary on somebody else will be difficult. If Denver can't, then they are fully expected to release Williams before April 15. The Post mentions the Texans, Redskins, Raiders, Falcons, and Ravens as suitors.
I think this would likely be a mistake unless the compensation is right (which ftr it seems we NEVER get, I sware teams must love trading with us) ...DJ can play MLB, we don't have an MLB imo as of now, until we do, we shouldn't give away our only proven one

He's better suited at ILB, and Woodyard clearly outplayed him. DJ's just good depth.

Agreed and to be honest he isn't worth the money he's being paid. I'm all for shipping him out, but we do need to actually get something for him. A couple picks maybe, or a player and pick.

You mean olb? And right, I agree but he's better at MLB than Mays, and as far as I know Irving and Johnson, so until proven otherwise ...

Watch, we're gna get a 6th for him or some garbage cuz we suck at trades and that's what I don't wanna see

          Von plays outside, not Williams.

And why would you say we suck at trades? We've been fine with them since Elway started running this team. Hell, we got a 4th for Tebow.

Would take a 5th or 6th round pick and run.

I agree he has a proven value of versatility, but I really dislike the idea of DJ playing MLB again. Aside from the occasional hit, DJ lacks attitude and leadership. I feel like I'm beating a dead horse saying that but it really is important to have more than decent play at the position. It's not like we have a John Lynch or Brian Dawkins who can compensate.

Woodyard sort of does the job.

i doubt any team would trade for him bcz they know were going to release him anyway...but if they gave us a 6th or 7th id take it...

If DJ could get his act together he could be a really solid WLB for some team
The problem here is Woodyard is just as good as him and even more of a playmaker
And we dont have to worry about WW getting suspended for 8 games for being an idiot in the offseason

Just another one of the cases of a guy with $1,000,000 talent and a $.02 head

So does Woodyard, which is who you meant, he plays weak side OLB (Will), while Von plays Strong side (Sam)

And we do suck at trades...that wasn't a terrific trade at the time and all of our draft day trades as well as our Cassius Vaughn (starting CB all yr) for worthless Gronk ...have sucked

I like Elway but he's been worked in just about every trade so far.. especially on draft day when we had a real head scratcher w/NE

I think we might be able to get a 4th or 5th round pick for him. I dont wanna trade him but thats better then releasing him. Some of you really dont give him credit for how good he is. Hes the only player besideds champ thats been on our team for awhile. Other people around the league still know he can play.

To be fair, Vaughn was the 113th ranked corner out of 113.

I thought the same thing with Tebow (there was absolutely no way we were going to keep him, he would have been released eventually), but the Jets stepped up to the plate and gave Denver a couple draft picks, so you never know.

I ultimately think no one will trade for him and he will be released. He is sadly expendable, because the Broncos won without him, and he is too much of a cap hit.

Nate Irving is a MLB and Steven Johnson was a pretty good MLB at Kansas
A healthy Kenneth Dixon is a top 5 NFL RB.

Not only drafts picks but they ended up taking part of his salary we were supposed to pay him
