I have gone through this before, but the hardline we are taking with Doom has me even more convinced a long term deal will not get done with Clady. Elway assessed his value, offered him a contract and Clady said no. I do not see that sitting well with Elway. Then Clady says he will sign the Tag later, another snub towards the team.

Not saying this will happen, but if we get Johnson and he performs well in camp, Clady gets dealt this summer. If not he plays under tag.

We all know the guys we need to resign next year. Clady's demands pay for Decker, Beadles, and Harris all by itself.
Whoa hold on a second. What other than his combine makes him a 1st round pick? He has shown 3rd round talents his combine pushed him into the mid 2nd but then again I guess since he has a chance to play LT that will shoot him up?

      My opinion:
      1) If Eddie Lacy is at 28, draft him.
      2) Trade up to early second round, grab vaccaro or elam if there (unlikely). If not there, grab safety in second (swearinger, reid)

      OR more likely,
      1) Green Bay take Lacy. Trade down to early second, grab safety.
      2) Draft running back with our other second round pick.

Right now I am thinking either trade up and get Vacarro or Ansah (depending on Dumervil), or drop back and get more picks next year when we will likely need it most. If we drop back I prefer Bell Swearinger and Devin Taylor who are all 3-4 draft picks. I am not impressed with many 2nd rounders except Gratz

          Who Armstead?

I do not think he was ever considered a 3rd round talent. Draft sites just did not know about him. Any player that scouts feel can be an upper tier LT will get you into the 1st round. Joe Staley is an example of this. Armstead has the tools, and while he may not be a 1st year starter, I think he will be a stud after spending a year with NFL OL coaches.

Besides, the talent level between #28 and #60 is really not that far apart, not many guys in that range will have the ceiling of Armstead. Elway has shown he will draft a guy to develop.

Based on what? Have you watched kid play? Because I have and it may take him a good 2 years. He doesn't have a ton of functional strength on the field having trouble with stronger DE's. Despite his speed he is miserable at hitting blocks on the second level. I mean we saw this story before but the guy played better competition and his name was Bruce Campbell. Not saying they are the same guy but a lot of hype is surrounding this guy when on film he is a 3rd round OT. And the only reason is because you can't tell when he plays the level of competition. I'm basing that off of how he handled guys at the East West Shrine and Senior bowl.

Definitely an interesting prospect but a 1st round prospect for so many question marks? It's definitely possible, LT's are a prized commodity. But all of our 1st rounders under Elway have competed for starting jobs day 1. He's a better athlete than football player at this point. I mean if were gonna go with guys based on potential at OT guys like Chris Faulk and Menelik Watson are right in the thick of the discussion. If we're going to talk potential period, Margus Hunt is a front runner

Armstead started off badly at the senior bowl practices, but by the end was doing as well as any. I am sure the coaches noticed how well he took to instruction. If he can improve that much in 3 days, think about where he would be in 3 months?

Only about a month and we will see what teams think of him.

Hey I don't think you are far off by any means. Like you said, any POSSIBLE left tackle prospect sky rockets to the 1st and 2nd rounds regardless of their actual performances. Which is also a reason why there have been very many busts drafted outside of the top 20 or so picks at LT. If you are correct though he should surpass Fluker and be drafted in the mid to late 1st as Fluker is a RT prospect.

Can totally see us trade back out of the first this year

If the player they deem "their guy", the guy they want the most isn't there.... BPA or trade back i guess

Only have two drafts to really gauge any tendencies the FO has as far as pulling the trigger and grabbin somebody. They were pretty consistent in selecting guys that had great character, were hard working, team-captains etc, ect. But to crack the champagne with Von Miller at number 2 in their first draft says something. There were lots of pundits saying our 4-3 defense would not suit Miller, even make a waste of his talent, not a good fit.

                  Working out puuuuuuuuuhhhretty well.

If they like what you can do and can incorporate the best talents of the player(s) into their scheme somehow....even the players who havent necessarily won the 'Pre-Draft Popularity Contest'...no hesitation. I like the fact they aren't swayed by the mob's opinion.

We filled so many needs in free agency I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that we trade a pick package to move up and get a guy like Kenny Vaccaro.

Te'o is always a possibility as well.

I wouldn't mind OC competition with a guy who can also play both guard slots. Not familiar with those guys. I still think we should think about Ryan Swope (learning from Welker, wow) John Jenkins late in the second (Jenkins + Pot Roast, that's a 5 course meal) and take a late round chance on my guy Mauti.

All I hope is being that I am a Michigan state fan and have watched Bell run I would love to pick either him or Monte Ball who destroyed MSU lol. we need a solid young pounder, I like WM but he is getting old.

Qb: obviously we are set unless we take a late round flyer or an UDFA. Thats the only way I see us drafting one this year.

Rb: This is a possibility. McGahee is older, coming off injury, and has some fumbilitis in his system. Moreno is competent at best and is made of glass. Hester is good for some short yardage but thats about it. Hillman is too small for the PB schemes, and Ball does well to make the team as a special teams player. Many would argue we can still get decent quality later in the draft though, especially if Lacy is gone at 28 (which he probably will be).

Wr: We are stacked here. If we "wanted" to add another wr we could re-sign Stokely and let Willis or Caldwell go.

Te: We have two decent, middle of the pack TE's now, and two more that we are still waiting to see if they can take a larger role. So I just don't see it.

Ot: Nah, we are good with Clady and Franklin
Og: Again, I think we are good with Beadles and Vasquez.
Oc: Possible. Koppen looked better than Walton to many of us last year. Koppen is older than dirt but this is a position we could really benefit from an upgrade in.

De: Very possible, especially if we don't keep Doom. Even keeping him this wouldn't shock me at all.
Dt: I think we are ok with knighton, vickerson, unrein, wolfe (in some situations), Beale, and Jackson. It wouldn't shock me though since this draft is so deep in Dline.
LB: I think the only shot would be at MLB and unless it's all smoke screen? Elways constant mentioning of how we run nickel so much would indicate that mlb isn't a huge need, especially since we added one more in FA.
Cb: I think we are set. Champ, DRC, and Harris should be dominant, if one falters though we do have Carter and Bolden in reserve.
S: this is a strong possibility. I personally think QC will come back strong this year once his legal troubles are behind him and I also think Moore will be a man on a mission after that one glaring mistake from last year. We will see though, it definitely wouldnt hurt to see if we can upgrade.

After going through it position by position? We "could" patch together a winning season with what we have right now. I'd kind of like to see them stand pat and take BPA at each of their spots. As agressive as we were in FA? I wouldn't be shocked if they traded up in the first to nab an upper tier player though, it would kind of be following the precedent they've set so far in this years off season moves.

Regardless of what they do though? I've got faith that it will be the right thing for the team, and I'm not going to second guess them. Lord knows they have turned this place around in 2 yrs and breathed hope into a fanbase that was completely disgusted with the way things had been going around here.
