  • Would you trade for Jarius Byrd?

I can't remember what site it was on (perhaps Rotoworld), but they brought up the fact that Buffalo safety Jarius Byrd was the only other franchise player besides Clady yet to sign his offer. They went on to say that Buffalo might consider a sign and trade scenario if they could procure a starting OG.

If Kuper comes back from injury I'm not sure we pay him starting money to ride the bench. If we could trade either Kuper or Beadles and one of our safeties (maybe Moore) for Byrd, and probably throw in a draft pick, I'd trade for Byrd in a heartbeat. I think Jarius Byrd is one of the top ballhawks in the league, and would take our defense to another level.

    Thoughts?

Yes it was Rotoworld. I live in Buffalo and have seen numerous Bills games. Byrd is a STUD.

His rookie year he picked off a bunch of passes but wasn't great versus the run. Since then he has turned into an all around great player. His year last year was All Pro caliber.

I think he is a top 5, maybe top 3, maybe even number 1 safety in the league, but I don't think we can afford to pay him what he'll deserve (8+ million per year) with a bunch of key players needing new contracts in the next few years.

He's the db we passed on to take Alphonso smith......remember when we traded our first round pick.....like a double kick to the nuts
      So far:
      FA- Melvin Gordon. Brandon Scherff
      1. Kenneth Murray LB; 2. Shenault WR; 2B. Biadazz Center, 3. OT

I can only imagine what people would have said back then about us taking a 5'10" CB with 4.6 speed. He only started at S in Buffalo because both of the starters got hurt.

I could be wrong but I'm fairly certain he led rookies with 7ints that year. I also think he started in the slot his rookie year. Either way, one player is pro bowl caliber the other isn't even in the league to my knowledge.

I do still kinda wish we would bring smith back, during his time in detriot he should glimpses of a good corner. Idk why no one will give him a shot, there are way worse corners out there
A healthy Kenneth Dixon is a top 5 NFL RB.

So instead we took a 5'9" cb with 4.6 speed.

I would love Byrd but with all the signing we have over the next couple of years that would seal the deal on a roster purge. He wont come cheap.

Agreed. We probably won't be able to repay all our FA in the next couple years

I don't think he has the short term memory needed to play CB. There are speculations were they said Smiths confidence was completely shot after the game vs. Patriots where Deon Branch absolutely embarrassed him. Hasn't been able to recover since that game. He also said in an interview when he got traded is he wouldn't have been able to regain his confidence if he would've stayed in Denver.

That's right. Almost forgot about that one. Who was it that passed on him along with trading a first to get a pick high in the 2nd round for overrated smith, you guessed it the MCWHO. FAIL. Then again I am sure crash fells it was a great pick since smith hasn't panned out with any team in the NFL. lol

To be fair he had a bunch of picks on the Lions that one year so it's not like he's a TOTAL bum.
