Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

I think Wolfe was more than just "a rotation player". According to Del Rio, he played about 75% of his snaps at DT. Wolfe had 6 sacks (most for all rookies) and only 2 other players, who played primarily DT, more sacks. He also played 904 snaps on defense, 2nd behind DOOMs 922 for the Dline.
Wolfe is a great building block for the future of the defense.
I read that he lead everyone, DOOM included considering DOOM was injured for a game.
I read Wolfe played 904 snaps and DOOM 922. Doesn't matter a lot, they both played a lot and the majority of snaps.
True it doesn't make a huge difference but
Denver Broncos
Derek Wolfe, DE
Draft: Second round, 36th overall
Snaps/Usage: 933 snaps, 480 at defensive end on a three-man line
Notes: Despite Wolfe’s six sacks, he graded at -24.5 as a pass rusher as he totaled only 25 total pressures on 530 pass rush attempts. Similar to Cameron Jordan with the New Orleans Saints, Wolfe may be miscast as a 4-3 defensive end as his pass rushing is sub-par compared to his peers, but he is effective against the run. He graded at +10.3 as a run stopper and ranked 14th at the position in Run Stop Percentage at 6.2.
In his rookie season he played all 16 games, on a team with a struggling QB.
He racked up 1454 yards at a 4.6 average with 11 TD's.
He also put up 472 receiving yards and a TD.
Wolfe was a solid rotation player. If he makes the jump next season then its a good pick as RB's are easier to find.
If DM becomes a top 5 back which is very likely, he has all the tools, and Wolfe's ceiling is just in a rotation then we made a mistake.
Ok we'll you can pine over a guy who had one monster game against a horrible defense and then a couple 100 yard games then everything else is 50-60 yard games. He has more disappointing games as game breakers, he had a HUGE 16 yard performance that we can just overrate!
I know this part of Wolfe's game is unmeasurable of what he brings to the team but do not forget that this whole off season coaches and players alike have talked about how Wolfe has now become the leader of the Defensive Line in Dumervil's absence. Sly has talked about how he is just trying to follow in Wolfe's footsteps this off season and follow his leadership. I'm not saying Doug Martin isn't a leader but just saying Wolfe brings more than just being a good player to the table.
I guess for me I look at it as the Broncos are trying to build one of the most dominant DL's in the NFL right now and that is ten times harder than trying to find a good running back in my book. I don't fully believe this saying but it is somewhat true in running backs these days are becoming a dime a dozen. Yes there are those elite guys like AP that are well worth the investment by a team but more times than not a great DL will help you win more Superbowls in today's NFL than a great running back.

This is my point. He had a solid year, however many snaps he had, but needs to take that next step and become a 'good' DL player. I like Wolfe and he was decent for a rookie. My point was if Martin blows it up next year and Wolfe doesn't improve on these weaknesses then people will question the pick.

I watched a lot of DM last year and he was very impressive, especially with a QB that was struggling. He has all the tools.
I support all our players but some people act like only Bronco draft picks work out and that Elway and Fox always make the right decisions. There's nothing wrong with acknowledging other players who had terrific years

I don't see them as weakneses. The "weak" area they talk about is his pass rushing but they are comparing him to true DE such as Jared Allen and Dumervil as well as pass rushing OLB such as Von Miller and Clay Matthews. I would want to look at other DT pass rush numbers and I would bet Wolfe is right up there with the best of them. There were quite a few plays he got pressure up the middle right behind Miller and DOOM that he probably didn't get credit for. I would also question his responsibilities on his pass rush rush attempts. With Von Lined up behind him when he is playing at DE, his primary responsibility was probably not the QB since that was what Miller was doing. I would guess that on a lot of those plays Wolfe's job was to take the blockers and let Miller go free.

Ya but People need to stop talking about Martin like hes AP. Wolfe was the right draft pick, if Martin didnt have that huge game against the raiders and just put a bunch of 60 yard games and a 16 yard game against THE SAINTS! He wouldn't be drooled over

Martin had 1900 total yards with 12 TDs....a little better than you give him credit for.
