  • Mike Evans

First and foremost, I'll say I was just at the best football game I've ever been to in Texas A&M and Alabama. Secondly, I'll say if we let Decker go Mike Evans will be an upgrade.

He averaged 40 yards per catch today on 7 catches and caught literally everything thrown his way. He made Alabama look flat out bad. In one on one situations, I haven't seen a more dominant performance against such a high caliber defense in my life.

Here's to hoping that if Decker leaves Mike Evans will be his replacement.

    Vincent Jackson with less speed.

I've actually made the same comparison a lot, but after today I can't say less speed like I would have before. He looked faster today than he had in the past, like against Louisiana Tech he scored a long TD but wasn't going that fast.

I still don't think he's quite as fast as Jackson. Jackson is more dynamic.

Evans reminds me of Marques Colston. He's a huge physical receiver who doesn't create a lot of separation but boxes out defenders and go gets the pass.

I think Evans benefits from second reaction plays with Manziel that he may not get here in Denver, but he's still a good possession receiver.

Im not a big fan of Decker especially as of late but I must say its rare to find a guy at his position with such willingness to block. Though its come to a point I think Caldwell has earned the spot over Decker is very rarely open and when he is has not displayed the type of hands he used to have.

Though I do believe Mike Evans is a red shirt sophmore I am uncertain he will enter the draft yet. Jordan Matthews on the other hand is currently a senior who has been amazing against the superior coverage in the SEC as well, though I dont want a receiver in the 1st round. Though his real test will be against Alabama

The best bet is Alex Neutz who has talent but is completely off the radar. He has faced better coverage then Evans this year and has done well, and last year he had just as many big catches for 25+ yards and 1 less 15+ yard catch. Granted this year its hard to beat Evans game against Alabama, but Neutz who is on a worse team looked well against OSU and Baylor. He also did well against Georgia last year

As for someone with great size and speed, L'Damian Washington is the best you will possibly find even in high school he displayed unnatural athleticism:

          Then there is this

6'4 and runs like a train

He definitely benefits from the second reaction plays, but a lot of the time it's Manziel still just throwing it up for Evans to grab. In addition, he is very good with timing routes (hitches/comebacks) and is a monster after the catch. I see him being able to do anything Decker does but many things better.

I would agree his hips are his best asset, and he is very physical though not overly physical like Decker can be. Ild have to say Coleman is probably the closest thing to Evans. Hes a very big and physical guy and his best assets are his hips despite not being fairly fast.

There is also Moncrief his physical but gets good separation as well just not consistently. Still both are overrated in comparison

Pretty spot on except I would put Evans' physicality over Decker's physicality for sure. When Evans gets the ball he can look like Brandon Marshall at times.

Decker is extremely physical he has a tendency to knock defensive backs down and can get rough if hes forced in a shoving match. Decker is surprisingly strong and can block better then most receivers but he cant control his strength and it costs penalties. Evans isnt as physical as Decker but he doesnt necessarily need to be he hasnt gotten tangled like Decker has

If we're talking about there games as a whole I would definitely say Evans is more physical. Evans reminds me of Marshall when he has the ball and catches in traffic like Boldin. Decker is nearly as tough either, especially against corners. Evans manhandles corners, Decker does on occasion.

When is the last time Decker has flat out impressed you with the ball in his hands? How about against ATL when he runs a comeback and Asante Samuel hit him and disloged the ball? His slide? His catching in traffic? I take Evans in this aspect.

Ill agree hes not physical with the ball in his hands and his t rex arms have been a cause of much grief.

Have you watched Mike Evans? If Decker leaves and we're lucky enough to get him in the first he'd be a better pick than any DE/C.

Disagree than any DE or C.

I agree he'd be better than any C. We don't need a C in my opinion. We've got depth and a guy who's stepping up and exceeding expectations in Ramirez.

I don't really know about DE since I don't watch much CFB but I think we're fine there too. I'm thinking there's no way in hell Evans drops to us in the first though unless we trade up. Plus we've got Q, Jackson, Wolfe and I'm betting we resign Phillips.

I don't even know where we should go in the draft next year. Maybe CB is DRC somehow leaves which would suck.
