  • With the 31st pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos select...

Defensive End Trent Murphy Stanford is my pick. Who do you guys have us taking?

    Kyle Van Noy BYU!!!

A guy who plays in the mold of Miller and Clay Matthews IMO....not as good, but the same disruptive presence.

My dream is that we take CB Justin Gilbert, but I dont know if he makes it. I would also like OT Zach Martin and push him inside to LG. Another guy I wouldnt mind is DE Kony Ealy.

I am hoping they trade down to about #40 and pick up a extra draft choice. They difference between the players available at #31 and #40 won't be that much this year IMO.

Ryan Shazier. We don't know how Von will recover and I would love to add his speed and effort to our LB corps.

I hope we trade out of Day-1 and pick up a high second and a third round selection.

This way, we could grab Zach Martin or Louis Nix with the high second (ala the move we made to grab Wolfe).

Then, with the extra pick in the 2-3 rounds... we could target a DE (Truitt, Ealy or Murphy) with our original 2nd rounder, then look at a MLB (Yarwin Smallwoord, or Skov or Borland) with the extra pick we accumulated by trading down some. Finally, to round out the first 3-rounds... Grab a DB at the end of round-3 - with Lamarcus Joyner my top choice, or Gaines, with Keith McGill or Baptiste as fallback options.

              Martin
              Truitt
              Smallwood
              McGill

This would be a HR for me!

                Another good pick......

What you said about Miller is exactly why I think we need a player like Van Noy or Shazier.

I think it's clear, if we want to run a 4-3 then we must find an ILB. Our strength on defense should start with our LB trio... and that appears to be 1 short. Von MIller and Danny T. FOX has shown he'll draft ILB high... so go grab one early in May. I prefer Yarwin Smallwood, but will be fine with whoever they identify as worthy.

Chris Borland is the MLB I want in round 2. I think we should go D-line with our first pick. Donald, Tuitt, Ealy, Ford, or Crichton.

I like Borland as well in the 2nd, but I would love Christian Jones more than Borland.

I like Ealy at 31, but if Justin Gilbert is there I dont think we should pass on him.

Chris Borland would instantly become a favorite player by the majority of this board. His style of football is just too much fun to watch. He will be missed at UW.

As for the first round? CB, DE, or WR depending on Decker's status.

I think it's hard to predict now, not knowing where our free agent dollars go, but I sense with the limited options at ILB on the free agent market... We probably spend our free agent cash on DB & DL. Plenty of solid options.

We should re-up DRC, and make a run at Verner as our top free agent target. Round out the secondary with Ihedigbo (dump Adams). Then make a shrewd move to bring Lamarr Houston in, and round out the defense by adding J.Allen, if he comes cheap.

This way... we target ILB early in the draft..

I also think we should let Beadles walk... so I bring in the RT from NYJ as insurance, and draft Martin in the first round. Then I target Smallwood in the second round.

I like Smallwood the most, for his ability to cover. BUt that's just me.

I can't see us taking a WR in the first, even if Decker leaves. Maybe in round 3-4 and then picking up a cheaper FA to replace him would be better.

Exactly. Draft Abbrideris in round 4-5 and sign free agent Andre Roberts. Solved. Most of the 89 underclassman who are leaving early seem to be WR... Lots available. I would identify two specific types: A speed guy to stretch the field to go with a Wes Welker replacement slot-WR. Let Decker walk, replace him with Roberts. Have Abbrideris as insurance, or maybe Tevin Reese to be Welker's understudy (step in in case of another head issue).

From my prelim research... It seems the one particular area that must be resolved in draft... is ILB. I do worry about employing 3 young LBs. Would prefer at least one wily vet to keep the gang sharp and focused, but I don't see an option in free agency.

There are a few nice options in the 1-2 rounds. SO, take one and have that MLB join Trevathon-Miller. Then sprinkle in BPA, and given the state of our pass rush... Always smart to grab a DL disruptive force. Unless Louis NIx is there, then grab a DE like Tuiit, Ealy, Murphy or whoever. Or, play it safe and smack one down the fairway... let Beadles walk and draft his replacement in Martin.

After the BPA and MLB selection, 3-4 rounds are perfect in this draft to grab a solid WR and a big, physical corner.

If we re-up DRC and bring in another top free agent CB, along with a recovering Harris, a 3rd round pick, to go with Webster and Champ. Dang! Bring in a SS like Ihedigbo or Ward, along with Moore's return. Our secondary is repaired! The LBs would be beastly Miller-Smallwood-Trevathon, and suddenly now all that remains from our defense being a dominating unit would be the return of Vickerson, Wolfe, & Smith from injuries and improvement of SLy & Malik. Sprinkle in a free agent in Lamarr Houston and vet in Allen (on last legs, to lead and rush QB 15 times a game)... WOW and wow.
