  • Broncos reportedly interested in a trade for Darrelle Revis

Well it's a rumor from ProFootballTalk.com, I don't have the direct link to the article but I found this.

    Thoughts?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been embroiled in Darrelle Revis trade rumors since the NFL trade deadline during the season. Since the, speculation has only...

I'd give TB a 1st round pick in a heartbeat.

Revis would most likely cost less than a first round pick.. Teams aren't going to be outbidding each other for a $16M salary

This, maybe a 2 or 3, and something next year.

I know the cap is going up but 16 mil for a CB is a bit insane imo.

I would not want him unless he restructured his contract. We could re-sign DRC and Harris to long term deals and STILL not pay as much money as would would to just Revis alone. He's a great player, but not worth 16 million when we already have some financial difficulties to consider.

As much as any team would love to have the best CB on your team, he just costs to much. There are a lot of other cheaper alternatives

With the cap increasing over there next few years & Peyton coming off the books in 2yrs we can afford him n our future free agents. I think we can get him to re-due his contract for about $12-13 mil a yr with guaranteed money. His contract now is for $16mil a yr with no guaranteed money.

For 16/year? no thank you. Revis is top five at his position right now. Maybe even top three. But in my opinion he has always been over-hyped. He is not the GOAT as so many people act. I can't think of any other corner off the top of my head that ever made that much per season.

Way too much money for a corner.

$16million? No wonder TB wants to get him off their payroll.

yes the cap goes up but still at 16M way to much use that money & the cap space we already have to sign/resign players to fill the holes on defense...im far from a cap guru but i think we could resign DRC n add Jackson for what revis costs alone...

As much as I love his style of play and his intelligence, 16 is too much....12 is more line with what our cap could take. Id rather go after a top flight DE and midlevel WR if we were to expend that much in cap
I need more Oline, please and thank you

ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio believes the Broncos and Patriots could have interest in trading for Darrelle Revis.
Florio identifies both teams as contenders with aging quarterbacks that need to win now. Both teams could also create the cap room necessary to trade for Revis. The Broncos could save $10 million by cutting Champ Bailey, and the Patriots could choose not to re-sign Aqib Talib. The Buccaneers' are reluctant to part way with Revis, though, and coach Lovie Smith has already promised to adjust his traditionally zone-based defense into a more Revis friendly man-to-man system. Still, a Revis trade to either team would be blockbuster news and immediately increase the Super Bowl chances of wherever he landed.

                          This is all Florio's opinion.

"If the Buccaneers still have Revis on the roster as of March 13, they owe him $1.5 million — and their fourth-round pick that currently belongs the Jets becomes a third-round pick."
If it happens, its gonna be soon which is good. Nobody in the NFL is gonna pay $16mil for him but if he agrees to restructure his contract with any team he is Gone. I'm giving it 85% chance he is gone by then to someone. Buc's can't afford to keep around and lose a 3rd rounder with a new Front office and Coaching Staff and a Cover 2 scheme Lovie Smith uses. TB needs a Strong pass rush not Cover CBs.

I do think Revis gets moved, but he would obviously have to redo his contract with a new team. I don't think the new regime in Tampa Bay wants his large contract that is absolutely INSANE for any CB to take up that much cap room. Broncos would have to let DRC walk if they signed Revis, just as Pats would have to let Talib walk. Not sure I would even want Revis on my team though. I don't like his attitude; it seems like he doesn't care about winning just wants to get paid the most.
