I dont disagree but Rahim was playing well before his injury.

Not on a Thomas/Byrd level but not enough to break the bank for Byrd.

    JMO of course.

It would be interesting to see their plan at S if they got Byrd.
What's the difference between ignorance and apathy?

        Interesting stuff

Bob Sanders even more so. I remember EVERYONE saying the Colts defense was going to get MURDERED in the playoffs that year. Sanders came back and the defense played well enough to win a Ring.

Like I have said before...I am all for signing Byrd. Cut Champ and give his money to Byrd.

If the guy is a money hog and wants to win the lottery by landing a Mega deal then I understand if we have to pass.

Elway is trying to build a team that contends year in and year out. I would give a few players a mega deal (QB, truly elite pass rusher ... anyone who can take over a game ) but not a safety.

Not only was Rahim playing well but the coaching staff is really liking how he is progressing every year.

My main concern about him is his injury. Like most injuries he should make a full comeback but unlike most injuries that one has serious drawbacks.

We should seriously consider Rahim may never be the same player again or may take a step back from his progression...which I am assuming we thought would keep getting better.

Rahim is a RFA after the next season so if he does not fully recover THIS OFFSEASON he may never start another game for the Broncos.

Rahim Moore contract and salary cap details, full contract breakdowns, salaries, signing bonus, roster bonus, dead money, and valuations.

This is a very complicated decision ... I trust in Elway tho

I don't know... is he really worth the money?

I'd rather put what dough we've got in locking down a replacement at MLB, fill in Decker's hole. Resigning DRC and Moreno. And then go after Jared Allen or a cheaper safety in TJ Ward.

We can address safety in the draft. I dunno. I still feel comfortable with Rahim and Nacho. I think Nacho's injury last year really sent us for a spin. Plus I'm all for drafting Pryor and making him compete back there.

I agree with all of this except apparently Moreno isn't coming back, they're happy with Montee. With ~$29 Million in cap room, we should be able to grab a quality receiver and MLB, retain DRC, and then be able to snag impact players. Byrd probably doesn't fit into the plan, but if they think he's worth it, it's a possibility.

True. I agree Moreno was just a "want" at this point. Granted we had the whole "legendary" offense last year. But at the end of it all, with the SB. I just feel like Moreno was the only one who consistently earned his paycheck on a week by week basis. Okay I guess throw Manning a bone. But still he was consistent, he was decent in his blocks. And he just strait up played the best of his career.

I wouldn't mind us making a move on Pierre Thomas, I think he could fit the Knowshon role better than Ball.

Oh, I love him too. I think we all do. Pierre would be a solid pickup, I think we should look at Gerhart also. There's enough backs in FA to where he won't be too coveted and he would fit in our rotation perfectly. After the past couple years I trust the FO to make smart, shrewd decisions, and this year we have a lot of open room to play with. Should be fun.

Oh I agree. I know Elway is more of the conservative, "get the best we can with the money we have" kind of guy...

But I'd love to see him be aggressive and go after a guy like Talib or Vontae Davis in the draft. Not Byrd.. just because I'm not sold yet. But grabbing TJ Ward, Daryl Smith, and Jared Allen all in a handful would be some aggressive fun signings.

Or even trading up in the draft would be welcomed. Being Elway goes for a blue chipper.

Allen, Ward, and Smith would definitely be a coup. Throw in a decent receiver and some more depth signings and that's already a quality, hole-patching offseason. I've started to get really intrigued with Lamarr Houston. I know he'd be real expensive but I just think he'd fit so well with what we want from our D-Linemen. I think if we want to go hard after a guy instead of picking up 2nd tier economical alternatives, it should be Houston rather than Byrd. What are your opinions on him as a FA?

I think it totally depends on his asking price. He'd be a good end and I'd say an instant upgrade over Ayers. He's 26 so he's going to want at least a 3-4 year contract, and he's going to want to be paid.

I think JDR can shape him into a decent edge rusher, opposite of Shaun Phillips. (Being they play SP on D-line still)
His talent really lies in stopping the run. He's a great run stuffer, and our team has excelled in stopping the run already.

Either-way he's a great fit. But how much money will he want?

Yeah, it's probably unlikely as someone will give him a big payday. I do think he's similar to Wolfe and Malik in his skill set, so we're more than likely going to go after other targets. Our rotation with Houston, Knight, Vick, Sly, Wolfe Malik, Von, and whoever else would definitely be very effective, though. It's just a thought I've been entertaining and the more I think about it the more I'm buying into Jared Allen as long as he doesn't ask for the moon.

The position I'm really at a loss for is receiver. We probably bring Caldwell back but I just don't know if he's the #2 we need. That will probably be a big TC battle between him and the FA/Rook that we bring in to fill it out.

Houston, Knight, Vick, Sly, Wolfe Malik, Von, and don't forget Shaun Phillips. Would be an excellent D-line & pass-rush would be premier of the league. We'd still need to address MLB, Corner, and SS. (DRC needs to be assessed immediately)

I do think we may be able to get Allen for cheaper than Houston. I'd be very happy with that.

WR, I'm really not as concerned as the rest of everyone else. New Orleans used Jimmy Graham in a lot of WR sets. I think the same could easily be done with JT. And we still have Welker next year. I wouldn't buy into the "his spot isn't safe" comments. He'll be here next year. Catching touchdowns.

Our WR group would consist of DT, Welker, Caldwell/JT
We still have Tamme at TE, and I'd expect Elway to grab another in FA.

We will still have a very formidable WR corp.

ESPN says Byrd will likely land here. DEFENSE is what we need. Playmakers and a nasty attitude is what we need. I'm tired of watching other teams push us around. We need to put the Offense on the back burner a bit, just replace Decker, Beadles and KnoMo. Everything else to the D!!
