I am more than capable of knowing the kind of player Jared Allen WAS for the price he deserved then. I would much rather have used Allen money to chase after TJ Ward.

It's not even starting I admit. But unless Elway got him on a really good deal. We essentially just burnt money on a gap filler until we can find someone to play that spot

I doubt a Jared Allen deal has any possible chance of getting in the way of signing ward. Pretty sure a 31 year old isn't first priority.

If the Broncos sign Allen, it's going to be on a very Bronco-friendly deal. I'm betting it is a two year deal, similar to what they did with Knighton. That's why it makes so much sense. He is a vet that has had his huge payday. He wants a shot at a ring, so he is going to have to be willing to take less from a team like Denver to get it.

For how much do you think ? I was hoping Shaun Phillips money, but then I came to the realization that there's no way Allen is gonna play for 1 mill yearly.

I'm going to guess 2 years, $5 mil, similar to what they did with Ty Warren

This is going to be Neil Smith 2.0. Ex-Chiefs, 31 year old DE, comes to Denver to help get the defense over the hump.

That would be sick if we got Allen. Still a top DE.

Imagine if we were also able to bring back Phillips. AT DE we'd have Allen and Phillips, along with a healthy Von Miller. Unstoppable to say the least.

Highly doubt he'll sign for 1 mil.

But i would figure it wont be a ton, he just made 70+ mil on his last deal.

I think there's a possibility the"mutual interest" could be a ploy to keep SPs asking price down, and light a fire under his agent's backside to get a deal done. Can't see signing both, Phillips produced last year, knows the defense, etc. just a thought.

IIRC we signed Ty to a 2 year $10 mil deal.

This could very well be the case. It's been thrown around that we should take a look at him, but again, as of last night there was a leak that he wanted to sign, which I'm assuming is very Bronco cap figure friendly. No way he comes for the $1 mil Phillips signed for, but I don't think he'll require 6+mil either. Phillips had a great year, and this is no knock on him, but Phillips is a finese DE. He uses speed and moves to get to the QB. Allen is power DE that pushes the pocket back or at least the O lineman. That's the type of DE I'd prefer to compliment Von. I hope we can get all three though.

Heck no. Ty Warren was coming off injury and wasn't the caliber of player Allen is anyways. I'd say 2/10.

I think that will be the ballpark for Jared Allen's deal.

I would be very surprised if we sign him for his asking price of 6-8M

As would I. I'd be much more comfortable resigning Shaun Phillips, focusing more on Ward or Byrd. Then grabbing a pass rusher in the draft.
