Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

When you see Kam Chancellor lighting up Demaryius Thomas and Earl Thomas getting paid top dollar, and a vaunted secondary yield just 8 pts to the best offense in NFL history, GMs suddenly pick up 4 safeties in round 1 along with 4 CBs.
It is a copycat league and 25% of the players selected are for the secondary, that is a significant amount, don't you think? Thoughts???
Absolutely it's a copycat league. That's why people were suggesting we draft SJB at 31 when he is a early 3rd rounder at best.
I disagree with you and he will probably be the next corner to go in the second. Kid has a ton of potential not to mention only playing the position for 2 years but to each their own.

Just my opinion of course. I see potential, and a pretty decent ceiling. Like you said he hasn't played CB for long. But right now I think the comparison to Richard Sherman is pushing him a full round before where he really ought to go. He will go early second round most likely. I just don't think he should. He seems to forget how big he is sometimes and doesn't always play physical like his size would suggest. He is being compared to Sherman because of his size, but in the mental game it's not even close in my opinion. Still. I could as wrong as anyone else. Nothing in the draft is a sure thing anyway. Appreciate the respectful disagreement though.

I hadn't seen the comparison to Sherman and I definitely wouldn't go that far for sure. However I do believe that he will be an impact player at the position in years to come but like you said, it's a crap shoot. Good point on his size as well, I have seen him not be as physical as he should at times.
Skov or Borland in round 2 for Broncos? What do you guys think?
Neither is really a good fit for the Broncos. Both are very limited athletically and fit better in a 3-4 defense with a highly athletic partner at ILB. (Willis and Bowman.) I like the intangibles and intelligence of both players but they just don't fit here.

It's a coachable problem (hopefully, you never know with some guys) but I don't think he would contribute a lot this year for anyone. Not that that is a huge problem, just as an early second rounder you hope to get a little more out of them early on.
Dude has good speed
Not afraid to be physical; Adds that "attitude" Broncos need
Like the added element he adds in the punt block formation
Needs work on "seeing the ball"
Not the best hands; but he is a CB
Solid Pick; complimented by the pickup of TJ Ward.
Defense wins Championships. Always has and always will. The team mediocre Offense whooped our Best Offense in the League because they played lights out D.
Kam was a 5th rounder not necessarily a must have at S in the draft but his size and athleticism make him a bit of a stand out and he developed well. Its not that its a copy cat league or that S is suddenly a needed position its just that this is the best S class in years. Rarely are there standout S but when there are they rarely last long in the draft. If there is a standout ILB you see a similar thing. Rare talent at leadership positions tend to make team go nuts. Its stupid to pass up on a talent that you may not see for several years.
Buchannon was the only reach of the S in this round, though that tends to happen when the best players at a position fall of the board teams panic and make a move. At the time before Thomas had even been drafted passing up Thomas for Smith the year before was said to be a mistake franchises would not long forget (Berry and Thomas together were the highest rated safeties ever)
