Skov is a 2 down backer at this point ild be happy with Tripp or Barrow.

So it is always tough to categorically prove whether or not an individual is a good assessment of talent for a number of reasons. Has Elway reached in some cases? Certainly, but so have other GMs. Has he drafted "busts"? Yep, but so have others.
It's also hard to assess how good players are only a year or two into their careers - the only period we have to assess since Elway has only been the Broncos' "GM" since the 2011 draft. In addition, given that football is the ultimate team game, it's hard to say whether a player is a "significant contributor" since not all players who are "key cogs" get Pro-Bowl nominations or award (e.g., MVP) recognition.
That being said, the Boston Globe attempted to assess teams' success in recent years using a number of factors including number of players still with their teams since their respective drafts, number of late round starters, and number of Pro Bowlers. Obviously, there will still be "noise" such as player compensation, the fact that "not all starters are good", etc.
The results? It seems that the Pats, Seahawks, Niners, Chiefs, Texans, Packers, Bengals, and Falcons are near the top while the Raiders, Jags, and Bears are near the bottom. I assume this means the Broncos are somewhere in the middle.
Again, I accept that this is an imperfect system of analysis, but if you're interested: http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/20...9TM/story.html

And Elway seems to draft fairly well especially in the later rounds. Not getting the doom and gloom.
That said Barrow has the ability to be that guy. Granted Ild of preferred someone like Bradford who has the capability to start right away but that didnt happen. Every year MLB has always had issues at depth in the draft its a hard position to draft for and rarely are there standouts and the drop off is usually not great. MLB tends to be one of those positions you have to find a diamond in the rough if you need to fill it which is why we tend to stay away and get veterans who are proven.Last edited by Joshecalpoly; 05-10-2014, 04:25 PM.
