Hes also good at dropping back, hes a fast long lengthed player hes my 2nd favorite ILB, but his instincts are still improving. Against Texas A&M last year and Clemson he showed he had some drop back skills. Hes not used a lot in anything besides being a missile in the middle but hes good at that. Ild of rather had Bradford but he was 2nd on my list he has a lot of potential though his frame is maxed out

If his technique was better held be a higher draft pick but thats coachable

Jumped out to me when everyone was clamoring for Kevin minter. After mosley, only Williamson and barrow are the only capable 3 down mlbs imo. Granted barrow won't start over irving

Denver was stout against the run already, so I imagine they wanted someone athletic here who can present a different blitz look, while also disrupting the ground and short passing game in the backfield. This defense needs to be fast and needs to create turnovers. Otherwise we once again run the risk of the offense wearing down after too many 80 yard drives over the course of the season.

EDIT: I also think people on the boards forget about Special Teams. We tend to look at every draft pick in the context of starting on offense or defense, but there are three, equally important phases of the game.

Nate Irving is more fluid then Barrow but thats about it Barrow is a harder hitter he got better speed and burst with better length then Irving and if he develops his instincts a bit better could be the biggest steal at the position besides Bradford IMO

Finding a better combination of length and speed in this draft would be impossible (something we seem to value heavily judging by other picks). People want us to be more like the Seahawks well this pick is very similar to that of the Seahawks corps

Looks like a possible combo of Irving on early downs and Barrow on passing downs. With the upside of Barrow having a Trevathan-like development and taking over full time.

In that scenario I guess Barrow would have to beef up 10-20 lbs. He is listed at Woodyard/Trevathan weight right now.

I'm not a big fan of Irving's cover skills, and I believe that the lack thereof is a major reason why he hasn't grabbed the starting job.

Lamin Barrow's measurables and production are almost identical to C J Mosley. Which is encouraging. Physically, this guy brings a lot to the table. Of course, just as Elway has said over and over, I expect to see Nate Irving in the middle on 1st and 2nd Down. ILB simply is not a position that concerns Elway.
