  • Quick Thoughts on the Draft

Bradley Roby was drafted in the first overall to compete with Webster? I don't think so. I think he was drafted to prove his worth on the outside while Chris Harris Jr. recovers from surgery.

Cody Latimer is another Eric Decker, but hopefully he wouldn't disappear in the Superbowl. Anyways, I love this pick because he's tough, experienced, and is valuable as a possession receiver. I think Wes Welker is gone after this year and we also play start running more screens or gadget plays.

Michael Schofield is the perfect offensive line pick because he can play RT and LG. If Franklin starts at LG, I think Clark and Schofield battle it out through the preseason for the starting RT spot. If Franklin needs to stay at RT, I think Schofield and Ramirez battle for the starting LG spot.

Lamin Barrow is a developmental linebacker in the mold of Nate Irving.

Matt Paradis is key to what I said about Schofield because either Ramirez or Will Montgomery will start at C and Paradis will back them up. It allows us to truly see who the best five are for a starting line.

Corey Nelson might be a PS squad player but at the most right now he could help fortify our special teams.

If I can be honest without being flamed, I am actually underwhelmed. I trust Elway and company, but it seems every year I come out of the draft the same. UNDERWHELMED.

The FO is beastly in FA, but seems to always try hard to find a gem rather than take the consenses best player.

I am still confused as to why we didnt take a RB.

Barrow is so much quicker then anyone we have on our roster at MLB and hes got great length and good pop he makes for a great pick up.

Schofield not sure he can handle anymore weight till he gets better legs and right now he lacks any strength to be useful.

Latimer has character concerns he disappears and has times where he doesnt actually try to go after the ball but so did Randy Moss so that doesnt mean he cant be useful. He also lacks route running skills unlike Decker

Paradis will likely be on the PS not lacks arm length or ability to get up field to really make the roster

Nelson is actually a good special teams player

Maybe they like CJ, Fluellen is a good RB who will like be a FA we can get him and he can be our 3rd down back

I promised myself not to watch the draft because ild feel the same way but couldnt help it

There is not much question in my mind that this draft is going to do very little to help the Broncos this season.

Roby will be an extra corner, and should be useful in coverage, but that's really all we added to the defense.

Barrow will be a multi-faceted reserve and special teams contributor, but not much else in year one.

Latimer holds the key. If he turns out to be the real deal, no one will remember we gave up an extra draft choice. If not, we will have reached for another disappointing player ala Ronnie Hillman...but for now, he is the fifth receiver as a replacement for Trindon Holiday in terms of a roster spot, but Peyton insists on precise routes and timing, which is not a strength at this time for Latimer. I also question his RAC skills.

As an older fan, the nightmare of one Marcus Nash lingers in the recesses of my memory. Big receiver with unpolished route running skills that could not separate...and he played with Peyton at Tennessee...hope I am wrong.

I am already on record as saying we reached on a VERY mediocre OT in Schofield. I see him as a career backup, and not what you want as a starter at RT or LG. He's going to be a swing G/T reserve, which is a waste as a third rounder.

I think Paradis actually provides some promise. He will most likely not make the team and will take a year on the PS, but who knows, Will Montgomery is signed to a one year deal, so maybe Paradis gets a shot to stick in 2015.

I don't know anything about Corey Nelson except that he is a very fast, athletic OLB, who you would assume can contribute immediately on special teams. Anything beyond that is TBD.

The big fail is we did not come away with a RB. Our RB depth chart is now painfully thin...better not have any significant injuries there...and you KNOW you always do at RB

Roby Barrow and Latimer are all high potential players (though ild preferred McGill Bradford and Moncrief all of who could have been obtained easier except Bradford who went earlier in the 4th). I feel Barrow could fight for a starting spot Roby could too considering how banged up our secondary is. Besides that Im not sure I feel very impressed with anything we did. Latimer could fight for a starting spot this year but from what ive seen of the guy not sure hes healthy right now or has the real desire to fight for anything.

Nelson is a good special teams player he and Barrow can make it so we dont get poisoned on ST like we were with Harvin

In all honesty Barrow could probably start right now over Irving because ive been unimpressed with that play so far but he needs time to develop that role.

                  I kinda agree with this.

I like our first 2-3 picks, other than that, eh.

                  Although Barrow seems intriguing.

There are always good RB's available in UDFA at least in terms of depth.

Fluellen can be a surprise pickup hes hard to take down and has great feet and hands but not great burst
                    Perry is still out there
                    Crowell is available

Those arent bad RB's to look at. Even Perkins

This draft was meh. Nothing exciting or anything that I feel we got huge difference maker to push us over the hump getting (Super Bowl win).

I liked the draft. I got the feeling that Elway and Co has taken a lot of risks on guys with off-field issues and other things that allowed them to slip, but most of the guys have the talent to have been taken earlier than they were. So he is taking good risks IMO.

I think our talent on this team is stacked. We mostly needed good depth because we were hit with the injury bug last season. I think Del Rio and Fox will make Roby and the rest of the defensive picks better. I don't get the Roby hate as he is clearly very talented (top 15 talented) and we got him at 31. He's very fast and physical, something we needed on this team and he could become the next Richard Sherman with the right coaching.

With our pass rush, it will make our secondary even better. We just need to stay healthy. I like the picks and believe our whole team will be scary good next season.

I'm interested to see what becomes of Corey Nelson. He was seen by Bob Stoops and widely seen by Oklahoma fans as being the best defensive player on their roster and a strong team leader with a lot of character. He was the leader of their defense when he went down.

Ive heard some scouts say he has high potential as a leader on ST, but he could surprise a lot of people
