  • How high would you draft Cardale Jones?

He seems to be the most physically gifted qb in the draft. Great mobility for a man his size and a cannon arm. Seems very similar to Cam Newton. However, he's also extremely raw and there are questions about his ability to read defenses. Walterfootball.com has him going in the 2nd or 3rd round. So, what do you all think about this boom or bust prospect? I think a 2nd is too high, but a 3rd sounds just right.

5th round. Will need 2 years minimum to develop, so you are getting at most 2 years QB, one of which will most likely be a learning curve year still.

3rd maybe 4th. He needs to much work at this time to be worth bringing him in any higher. His size and ability to throw the ball deep and well is intriguing.

Imagine Jamarcus Russell but less proven and polished.

I wouldn't draft him at all.

Probably a 4th with the comp we get from JT. That would be the highest I'd go.

I wouldn't, I think he has an ego problem and with as much coaching up as he needs, I don't see him getting to where he needs to be to be a starter. At least not with his first team.

I do not think I would draft him. There are several more interesting QB prospects I would rather select.

But then, Elway has not been asking my advice. Even after I so clearly give it here all the time.

The Broncos? Please no. He's as ignorant as they come. He once said he doesn't understand why they have to go to class.

I seem to remember that too. I have my doubts about him on the field. Off the field... well he comes off as arrogant. Probably the nicest way to put that. Certain traits generally don't mix well with being the face of a franchise. I wouldn't touch him personally.

He seems to developmental right now with to many inconsistencies once he was made the official starter and teams had tape on him. His lack of anticipation and timing and inability to read the D has caused him headaches and why he should develop more before entering the NFL. He also throws the ball to hard almost always which makes it difficult to catch and it also effects his timing and accuracy.

Though in reality these are the same problems we have with Brock. Though unlike Brock he was rumored to not take the demotion very well and showed signs of immaturity when it occurred.

1st to 2nd level tools (aka potential do to athleticism)
5th to 6th level IQ and fundamentals
                          Personality maybe UDFA

Some have said that overall he reminds them of JaMarcus Russell so he is someone Ild proceed with caution towards. Where as Brock was mostly evaluated as 3rd-4th for the same reason most felt he was a strong character player (there was a consensus amongst evaluators that we reached for him in the 2nd), which does make a huge difference in terms of dealing with set backs. Ild say any higher then a 4th (which we currently do not have so 5th) would be a prominent mistake even if another team makes a move then.

This comparison is totally unwarranted. Cardale loves the game of football and wants to be the starter (evidenced by his twitter comments in the past). Also Jones has faced adversity in college and knows how to win. The only potential comparable is arm strength.

If Cardale goes in the second round we should snag him. He had the mobility to be a fit in our system, but the size and atm strength to push the ball down the field. In an ideal situation he would be able to sit for a year.

He just needs some coaching on PR speak, but his question was legit. If college football is a business (which it is), why don't they get paid and why do they have to go to class.
