EDIT: We also lost Bolden, so , yeah, we needed more than 1 safety.
Not saying it's a great or wasted pick but we had Ward, start Keo and now Simmons so Parks wasn't a high priority in my opinion.

Exactly, I want the big names too, but how anyone can doubt Elway's late round skills is baffling.

A 3rd-round player in his 2nd year can't be the worst player on the offense and a huge liability like Schofield. We lost two OTs in 2015, Clady and Sambrailo, so it's only logical it was time to get something out of that 2014 3rd-round pick. We can't pick a player in the 3rd round and expect him to take 3 years to develop into a contributor. Then what? He plays 1 year, his 4th year, and leaves in free agency? Makes no sense.
I think you are making the mistake of equating all positions in the NFL. They aren't equal. Take RB for example. It's very possible that Booker steps in immediately and become CJ's back up. And he was picked in the fourth round. O-Linemen are a different beast all together. A guy picked at the bottom of the third who becomes a quality back up is valuable enough to keep and can be signed for a team friendly contract. If he ends up as the starting RT and he is decent you can still sign him to a pretty good 2nd contract because RT's don't usually get signed for high dollar contracts. It was a long term investment, not an immediate one.

Since so many people like PFF:

"TOP 50 AVAILABLE PROSPECTS FOR DAY 3 OF 2016 NFL DRAFT"

    33.Will Parks, Safety, Arizona
    Big Board Rank: 100

    Position Rank: 6

With two years of excellent grading in a safety/slot hybrid role at Arizona, Parks may not have the quicks to keep up with NFL slot receivers but he diagnoses plays well and takes great angles, so trying him in a free safety role looks like the way to go.

good chance he wont be drafted unlesss a team decides to take a swing on a WR who had underwhelming stats even. decent measurables pretty sure 4.42 was a bit high on the league and there not worried about him signing here after the draft. and we need punters apparently
