  • There were a number of factors contributing to the scenario in which Elway was able to trade up from #31 to #26 to get Paxton Lynch. It's a mystery to me why San Francisco #7, Cleveland #15 and the New York Jets #20 didn't take him. Oh well, go figure.

    • I wrote the wrong team above.
It was Rams and EAGLES who mortgaged the future of their teams to move up and get their "guarantee" QB.

Broncos already paid the price for Paxton.. and wont be making final payments next draft.

And I agree.it is baffling why he was still available for Broncos, even at #26.

Jets are still banking on Fitzy folding.

It's all part of life's rich pageant! I agree. I couldn't believe those 3 teams passed on Lynch. But let's face it, they are poorly run franchises. Their mistakes will be to our benefit. It just seems like things fall into place when it comes to John Elway making a move.

The Jets already have Bryce Petty who they have been grooming for a year already who sort of fits the Paxton mold which is what I'm assuming is the reasoning behind them skipping him.

And yet they took Hackenberg in the 2nd round giving Fitzy absolutey no leverage.

They hope he will be the bridge to Hackenberg.

                • Proof That Paxon Lynch was meant to be a Bronco

See the helmet on the shelf to Paxton's right?

                  Let me zoom in some.

In this episode, he said he played running back in high school, and loves running through the middle to get TDs or 1st downs. He said Cam was who he models his game by.

Are you saying Ryan Fitzpatrick is flammable?

                      • Just random thoughts for if anyone is still upset over losing Brock and hating this pick. The Texans essentially paid 18 million for 1 good quarter against the Bears, 1 good quarter against the patriots, 1 good quarter against the bengals, and 1 good half against the steelers. He then had some good plays spread throughout. But, you know what kind of quarterbacks can go 5-2 with that type of play and keep people optimistic? The kind with one of the greatest defenses of all time.

Sorry for being that guy. Just a late night thought I had.

Make the deal, take the hit, and walk away knowing you did the right thing.
JJ is new to this qb craze....I mean it is one thing to spectate others going through it but quite another when ones personal perceived values are put to the test because of the recent qb value trend in the NFL.

Who knows how much give and take the Hawks were allowing the teams to do but my guess is Elway would have upped the offer if need be as he is quite familiar with this new qb craze in the NFL.

Jerry may not yet realize it but imo he is doing exactly what teams needs to do....work on the run game because the ROI on the qb game is so risky right now.
Time to build on the win and grow the team from some solid play higher level of play

                            • Paxton Lynch will not sit on the bench for 2 YEARS.
                              -
He will acclimate and learn behind Sanchez... and get ready for 2017.
                              -
If Sanchez wins... and we are contenders... Sanchez takes us to the playoffs.
                              -
If Broncos stumble... and we are OUT of contention...
I woud fully expect we will see Paxton playing after the bye week.
                              -
Either way. Paxton will be starting 2017.
                              -
He is on a team friendly rookie deal 4 year contract... with 5th year option.
                              -
Elway is NOT gonna waste one of those 4 years..
beyond the initial training year 2016...
with Paxton walking around the sideline with a clipboard.

                                Paxton IS the Franchise...

and if he is NOT the Franchise..
Elway is gonna want to figure it out quickly and GET the Franchise in here.
                                -
NO WAY will Lynch ride the bench 2 years.
