Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

But if we're talking about 4 games, and we're talking about in those 4 games the defense "holding it's own" it's fair to point out that in one of those games, the defense did no such thing, they were absolutely awful.
Given how the Raiders offense performed yesterday I would also question whether using the results from week 17 should even be counted in the total?
But I'm jaded, given how poor the run defense was, all year, I don't want the defense to look at any section of the season and consider that they held their own. I want them to look at this season as a failure.
Getting the run defense fixed is almost as big of a priority this offseason as getting the o-line fixed.
Right I agree and the two major pieces there are poor pressure and penetrate on up the middle and another quality DE to compliment Wolfe. I suppose it is posSibley we see Gostis improve but I suspect if anything we will simply just start to see flashes and not brilliance.
With a better NT and another DE our run D would have looked much different.
Week 16. They didn't hold their own, they didn't do their jobs, they were pathetic. People on here were speculating the defense didn't give their best effort because they didn't want to get hurt if the offense wasn't going to do anything anyways.
I have no idea if that's true, I would hope not. But if it is, that's why you get rid of the players that create the rift.
nothing more than speculation at this point. On top of that our defense held Brady to...16 points and our offense still couldn't win...at a quick glance the only other team to hold them below 20 was us and the Bills I believe. I think the loss in week 16 was so glaring because it was such a key game for us and we got beaten so badly in the 1st half....1st quarter for that matter...

That is a 4 game average of 17 points per game...I'd hardly say that is the defense getting piss or allowing a sub par offense get to them. If anything I'd say they held their own and did their job.

That's the entire D. How are you going to replace them?
You don't replace the entire D, nor would I lobby to. What I'm saying is that if there's a rift in the team, and there's one or two people who are locker room cancers, you have to get rid of them, or you risk having the locker room be toxic next year.
None of us know the details of what happened this year, we've seen reports, but none of us really know. Elway does, if he doesn't make any changes then I'm confident there never really was that big of a rift or issue. But if there was I wouldn't be shocked if someone unexpected gets moved.
While this debate on which Bronco players could see the ax, what we really need to know is which current players will be available in free agency when the season is over.

Are people ever gonna stop with the "Cut Talib"???
It's not happening people. He had perhaps his best season of his career and was the 2nd best DB in the NFL behind Chris Harris.
As for the others listed in the OP.
Stephenson should be gone. I would have cut him as soon as the clock hit 00:00 last Sunday.
Okung is worth keeping but definitely not on his current contract. If he is willing to take a pay cut, I'd keep him. If Okung won't take a pay cut, then he should be cut.
TJ Ward is an interesting case. I wouldn't mind cutting him but yet Im more than fine with keeping him. He has some coverage issues but he also is aggressive and plays more like a LB than a true Safety. Simmons is gonna be a stud, I believe. He could replace Ward right now if need be but keeping Ward another year to give Simmons another season to learn and grow before starting is alright with me.
Someone else that should go that wasn't in the OP is Virgil Green. He has been quite a disappointment since his extension and we'd save a couple million with cutting him. I'd draft a TE and go with Derby and Heuerman for next season.
Are you sagging on him because he hasn't caught a ton of passes if that is the case it really isn't his fault....he is in many cases a victim of his own success. He is easily the best blocking TE we have and for the majority of his passing targets he has done well.
I believe we had the hardest finishing schedule in the history of the NFL. So to say the last 4 games teams scored on us isn't a suprise.

Yeah i think Green and Stephenson are possible cuts.
Okung is a wild card, not worth his salary but dont have any replacement.
Ward as well is interesting, we do have replacements but him being cut only saves like 4 mil or so. Doubt Denver re-signs him, i'd just keep him and let him walk after 18.
I agree with every statement here. While I think Okung should have been better, I don't know if he is worth the salary. He may be much better with a better LG next to him.
