  • Rumors abound about Elway's upcoming draft...

I was listening to 104.3 the Fan this morning. Cecil Lammey was on discussing how there are a ton of rumors flying within the scouts at the Senior Bowl that Elway has something really big planned for this year's draft. Some sort of splash move. Whether that is a blockbuster trade, moving up to get someone, etc. he wasn't sure. He said he does know Elway is up to something big, per inside sources.

He isn't expecting the Broncos to spend an early pick on an Offensive lineman, as he's expecting more to be done through FA. I thought that was interesting and I sure hope something big is coming. I got tired of his first couple years of trading out of the first. The only "move" he's done that was kind of crazy was the Paxton Lynch move and that hasn't panned out so far.

If the rumors are true, what do you think the "splash" move could be?

Maybe a big move up for a RB? I do think know who else it would be if not Robinson.

We are probably moving into the top 10 to get foster. We have three 3rd round picks and two 4th round picks. If we can move up without having to give up our 2nd that would be great.

Lets say its a big jump:

If its not OL, I'd imagine it's defensive front 7.

Garrett is probably a pipe dream, Allen could be in play if the board falls right. The most likely guy is Foster, he will be the most likely to be there, and fills an area of need.

Personally, I'd take Allen. Allens pass rush ability really sets him apart.

It's mostly people being ridiculously impatient.

If the browns do go QB with the #1 pick and the bears go QB at #3 that would cause garret to fall but still top 5 which would cause Allen to fall but still top 10 and a doable trade which would cause foster to fall possibly outside the top 10 which is a must do trade.

So if the first 3 picks are QBs we could have a legit shot at Allen.

Trading his first round pick this season second round pick next season plus Trevor Siemian and another offensive weapon in the Denver arsenal to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for their number one pick to which John Elway chooses Miles Garrett out of Texas A&M in reminiscing of the Von Miller draft back in 2011.

                    Myles Garrett*, DE, Texas A&M
                    Height: 6-5. Weight: 270.
                    Projected 40 Time: 4.60.
                    Projected Round (2017): Top-5 Pick.

I can see a couple guys. Adams, Hooker, Fournette, Cook, Robinson, or Foster.

With the OL not being very deep in this years draft, Im expecting the OL to be addressed more so through free agency too. We are looking great with realistically being able to make a splash by moving up in the draft as we are loaded with draft picks.

Players that I can realistically see us trading up for in the draft to take are:

                        Jonathan Allen
                        Dalvin Cook
                        Reuben Foster
                        Chris Wormley
                        Mike Williams

Some may say why Mike Williams - I say do not underestimate Elway as he very well could go the route the Falcons did in 2011 and trade up for a star receiver despite it not being a need.

Putting DT and Williams on the outsides and Sanders in the slot would give who ever is QB, not 1 not 2 but 3 lethal receiver weapons.

You cut off the last two words of my sentence... "panning out thus far"

It's not harsh at all. You not only chose a QB in the first round, but moved up to get one. Shouldn't first round picks be reserved for those that can provide an immediate impact? I'm sure John realized how incredibly raw Lynch was, but still thought there was a chance for him to play last year. Everyone was clamoring, saying he'd take the starting job before the Bye Week. So, I think my statement was accurate in the respect that he hasn't panned out so far.

I'm also willing to bet (that if we don't pick up a vet in FA) that Trevor will be starting again next year. He was light years ahead of Paxton this season, and I'm sure he'll continue to be going into his 2nd year. The only way Paxton will be on the field is if Trevor gets hurt.

Does not one think going for one of the top S is possible? I have seen a lot of talk comparing Hooker to Ed Reed, and Adams to Taylor. I would not mind doing either really.

I think the future is bright with Simmons and Parks. Dstew is locked up long term, and we have Ward, who may return on a resonable deal. Safety would be a luxury IMO.
