  • 2017 NFL Draft Crush

This thread is for all the draft fanatics out there to state their case for the one player they covet to play for the Broncos next season.

Since I started the thread, I feel obligated to state the case for my draft crush.

    Reuben Foster, ILB, Alabama:

A commanding leader with decent size. A tough, athletic player with good instincts. Brings power and speed with elite sideline-to-sideline range. Plays with confidence. Coverage ability is an asset. Can carry long speed against running backs on wheel routes and nine routes. An above average tackler. Carries enough size and power to fight against linemen and hold his ground. A great all around player who will bring natural leadership as a QB to the Defense. Fills a perceived need on our team. The odds of him being there for us to draft or trade up for are very minuscule. I would absolutely love it if we could, though.

This question is so hard. I usually have like 2-3 in each draft...but this year I have around 5-6. I love Dalvin Cook, Christian McCaffrey, Rueben Foster, Adoree Jackson, Johnathan Allen. I know a lot of Draft Gurus are saying this is a weak class....but it is my favorite class since Von Miller, JJ Watt and Nick Fairley.

Yes. Me, too. Ditto. Reuben Foster would help make Denver's D more fierce.

Yeah, there's no right or wrong answer here. I know all of us have his/her favorite draftee. I would like to see what ONE player is your favorite. When the clock is ticking, you only get to pick one...

Maybe his after-season surgery will cause some teams to hesitate. Not likely, but one can hope!

Jonathan Allen....pipedream I know. Reuben Foster is a CLOSE number 2 though. I am still holding out hope that we trade up to land him.

Of the guys who would likely be there at 20....

ILB Jarrad Davis is my man crush for us. He hits like a Mack track, and is instinctual. He has the speed to play sideline to sideline, but is a work in progress in coverage. The good thing is we don't need a coverage LB we need a thumper. He is that.

My close number 2 is Caleb Brantley.

I agree this is a tough one. Do you mean realistic draft crush or that unobtainable stare longingly from across the room draft crush?

I would love to see any of Garrett, Allen, Adams, Foster or Fournette in a Broncos uniform. All unobtainable!

More intriguing realistic (even if some slightly) choices around #20 are Howard, Cook, Peppers, Humphrey, Ross or Watt.

But the bottom line answer for me is McCaffrey.

Simply think he is going to be very good in his role in the the NFL. Reportedly high character, high football IQ, obvious versatile skills on offense and return game. Just think he comes in day one and adds a exciting element to a bland offense. Becomes the security blanket and first down maker every QB wants. Good chance he is still on the board at #20. Maybe?

No restrictions. All players are eligible. If nothing else, we can hope for our favorite player to slip to us or we can hope to trade for him. I'm just curious to see the variety of favorites.

If I told you we could probably draft leveon bell in the 2nd or 3rd round this year what would you say?

Joe mixon. Dont just watch highlights watch the videos where it shows every snap he takes in a game you will walk away impressed. Compare him to any other running back in this draft class. I will disappointed if we don't draft him.

I think this is the strongest RB class since the 08' RB class.

For me I have two. One in the top two rounds and one in the mid two rounds:

My first two rounds guy: Curtis Samuel: I believe he has the ability to be better than McCaffrey. He is faster and was a far more balanced player in college. Yes he shared more reps with more guys but I still think he can do some real damage at the next level. I also look back to the throws to a guy like Moreno in the flat in 2013 - those types of plays and that type of offense fits a guy like Samuel perfectly. With McCoy coming back here I expect to see a lot more opportunities like that for us. CJ does well in those types of plays but I expect Samuel would likely do even better simply because he is lightning fast.

Mid-round guy: JORDAN MORGAN (6ft3 320lbs): From the different games I have seen him play he was an aggressive blocker against the run. He also nearly always kept his guy in front of him. While he was a LT in college and is kicking it inside at Guard for the NFL I think for me that just helps his stock. He has proven to have the power to stop guys and since he was/is a converted tackle I expect he will have the needed footwork to play well in a ZBS since all fingers still point to us using that as well. I am also a fan of his size. And more importantly I am a fan of how mobile he is for his size.

Haason Reddick - LB - Temple.

Guy has athleticism in spades and willing to play anywhere on the field. Was a OLB at Temple, but went into the Senior Bowl and dominated the ILB work. Great attitude to have going to into the NFL, and I think this guy could make the Denver defense very scary again. Losing Trevathan hurt that defense, so if we can build up the DL a little bit and add a playmaking LB next to Marshall, we should be in good shape!

Reuben Foster won't be there for us, and unless he drops past the Cardinals and Colts (unlikely), he'll be out of our reach.

This is the issue I have with converts. it is nearly impossible to find details on them and how they played at other positions. I just took a look at his play and he did VERY well at ILB. He reminds me of a faster version of Trevathan. He ball skills are also as good or better than Marshall's because he is a converted CB to LB.
