Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

So both Kwaam Short and Chandler Jones have been hit with franchise tags so far with plenty more expected to come in the next few days.
I expect Brandon Williams and Dontari Poe to be hit with tags as well.
Players like Eric Berry and Calais Campbell should be free agents which could be great news for the Broncos. Not that we'd go after Berry but I'm hopeful we can sign Campbell at a reasonable price.

From what I've heard, Berry is getting tagged and Poe is hitting FA.

That is even better news for Denver, but some idiot team like the Philadelphia Eagles will set the tone with a ridiculous contract and the rest of them will all want the same pay.
JPP just tagged by the Giants. I don't see them resigning Hankins now.
Hankins is a guy I would like to see us grab, I think he will be much better value than Williams and Poe. Those two are gonna break the bank big time. If we can get him and Campbell our front 7 is elite again.
Anonymity is cowardice, and cowards are not known for their wisdom.

According to PFT, the Chefs and Berry are quickly working on a new deal that would make him the highest paid safety and allow them to use the franchise tag on Poe. These moves along with a big extension for their Quebecois guard are curious for a team that still lacks cap room.

Idk if they can sign Poe even if they do reach terms with Berry. According to Overthrcap.com the Chiefs are sitting at about $5 million is free cap. I'm not sure if that's even counting them signing the Guard to an extension. I think they have to let Poe hit FA

Right now they can't even franchise a player, so they'll have to release and restructure some. I did the math earlier in the offseason, by dropping 4 or 5 players they can get to $25 million in cap space. That's enough for the two defensive players, but not enough to overpay for a below average guard.
Chefs cap savings moves:
Foles: $6.75 million
Jeremy Maclin: $5.2 million
Derrick Johnson: $2.0 million (might be a restructure candidate)
Dustin Colquitt: $4.1 million
Jamaal Charles: $6.2 million (just under but I rounded down for a couple others)
Those 5 moves get them $24 million and change in cap space, plus the $5 million they already have. And depending on if they want to make a surprise splash, Alex Smith would be another $9.2 million in space, although that would most definitely go to someone like Romo.
