  • Titans number 5 pick

The Titans say they're open to dealing the number 5 pick, for the right price.

With two first-round picks in this year's draft, Titans GM Jon Robinson said the team would consider trading the No. 5 pick if the right deal materialized.

So the hypothetical questions are simple: What would you be willing to give up for it? Who are you moving up to get?

Realistically speaking, Jonathan Allen would be the top guy there that would fit our needs. That said, I'm not giving up the price to move up for him. Honestly, I'd consider moving to around 10 if Foster is there, or early teens if Solomon Thomas is there.

I don't think anyone in this draft is worth moving up that far. The only player I would move up for is Foster.. and that's only if he fell to 13-15

Have to agree moving up to 5 would be too rich. However dream scenario would be to have Foster fall to 12 and trade with Cleveland as they could be interested in trading back. I believe if i remember correctly John Elway tried to trade up for cj mosley.

I would tend to agree with both of you, the Broncos' needs don't match up with trading up for 5, unless Allen were to fall, but you won't know that until in the draft and I'm sure the Titans want to make the trade before then.

Otherwise the other two that I think best match what the Broncos need are Foster and Cam Robinson. Foster will likely go somewhere around 10, and it seems like Robinson could go anywhere from 8 to dropping to the Broncos.

I think Cleveland would be the easiest team to trade with.

Probably. But they might see how many high picks they have and decide to trade up to number 5? Although they seem like a quality over quality front office, I think using the 5 picks in the top 65 to end up with number 1 and 5 would be a good way to jumpstart things.

I wouldn't trade up to 5, but I would imagine that if we did there are 4 potential targets there. Most people wouldn't like it, but in this scenario I think the most likely target would be Fournette. he is the big dog at RB according to most scouts. He is huge and could put our offense over the top.

The next target would be Allen. The thought process is some here.

After him I could see Larimore. Best CB in the draft and this would point to Roby being let go and Talib cut/traded.

And finally we have Mike Williams. A big Dez Bryant lime target. Would be great paired with DT and Sanders this year. Would also enable us to get out from under DTs contract next year.

In more ways than 1. He weighed in at 240 pounds today which was the heaviest of all RBs at the combine.

"Atlanta traded five draft picks to the Cleveland Browns to move up into their spot and take Jones, giving up their 27th, 59th, and 124th picks from the 2011 draft, and their first and fourth round picks from the 2012 draft."

That's what it took for the falcons to move up to 6th to get Julio.

I would do it. Nothing is guaranteed but that one guy we trade up could very well turn out better than all 5 of the picks we gave up. I didn't research who the browns selected with those picks but I'm safe on betting non of them are better picks than Julio Jones.

I'm torn between Allen and Thomas.

In 2011 the Browns traded the 27th pick (actually 26 because the Ravens didn't get their pick in in time) and their 3rd to KC for the 21st pick, at 21 they took Phil Taylor. At 59 they took Greg Little and at 124 they took Owen Marecic.

In 2012 the Browns used pick 22 (Atlanta's pick) for Brandon Weeden. And the Browns traded the 4th round pick as part of a package to move up from number 4 to number 3 in the first round to draft Trent Richardson.

So for the pick that became Julio Jones the Browns ended up with Phil Taylor, Greg Little, Owen Marecic, Brandon Weeden and Trent Richardson.

So yes you're very correct, the Falcons got the better deal.

He isn't the type of guy who makes people miss or makes a bunch of cuts. He is more of a one cut guy who goes north and south and runs people over. So 240 might not be a bad thing if it doesn't effect his agility and speed.

Moving up fifteen spots in the first round is a very big move which would be made to get that one guy the organization feels they just have to have. Such a person would need to be a day one starter of pro bowl quality. While the current draft is deep at certain positions, I'm having difficulty seeing the major impact player such a move would warrant.

In the previous six drafts, Elway has moved up in the first round twice (five spots each time) and back once (out of the first round) He stayed at Denver's original draft spot in the first round the other three times. If he moves up, I think it might be a few spots in order to get a guy who had dropped, like he did with Shane Ray and Paxton Lynch.

College football is not consistently producing first year starters at a number of positions (e.g., QB and O-Line) Maybe McCaffrey's and Shanahan's developmental league will accomplish something . Due to this issue, rookies are often in need of development which may take a year or two at some positions. This is part of what is driving up the price of signing UFAs.

Scouts are having a hard time predicting how a college player's game projects to the NFL. Having ten draft picks is a good thing IMO.
