Dion Jordan?

He just got released from the Dolphins. A former #3 pick overall just seemed to be in the wrong system playing DE when he should be a OLB in a 3/4 D.

One of his suspensions had to do with PED use in order to bulk up to play DE and fit with the Dolphins system. The guy has loads of talent and if brought in as a backup or rotational linebacker with our culture, he might just turn things around and be the BEAST most of us saw coming out of college in 2013.

I guess Joseph would know him better than anyone.

I think his career might be over. Dolphins ruined his career in my opinion. What's the point in drafting a guy 3rd overall if you are not gonna have him do what got him drafted 3rd in the first place?

Is he even able to play this year? I know we need to add a 4th edge rusher if he wanted to come in to camp and compete but the articles make it seem like he is done.

But does anyone have any idea if he can drop into coverage as a backer or anchor not he line as a base end? If he can't do either it means he's a specialist. The problem with that is that he's only ever put up 3 NFL sacks.

Then you get to the bigger negatives, hasn't played a game since 2014. Was suspended 6 games in 2014 for drug violations, was suspended for the entire 2015 season due to drug violations and then had knee injuries which cost him 2016. And the Dolphins waived him after he failed a physical.

So what's the draw to signing him? Maybe if it were a league minimum deal with no guarantee and he has to earn his job in camp, there's something, but it seems like a move that has no real upside to him being on the team.

The article said that he was real comfortable in coverage but the dolphins wanted him to bulk up and play on the line instead leading to where we are now. But his coverage skills existed 30 pounds ago and it doesn't seem like his body has responded well adding all that extra mass.

As you said that was 30 pounds ago, and I'm not sure how much he's dropped into coverage in the last 4 years?

I think he's a never was. He got drafted to the wrong system, had no off field discipline and will end up being a guy who is an answer to top draft busts of all time.

If he could pass the physical and came in on the cheap prove it deal, I'd give him a shot. If we used him properly, he could definitely be an asset to our LB crew. I seem to remember when he came out he could rush the passer and could cover when asked too. I don't know about the health issues with the knee or if he can be the same again. But I personally think it would be worth a visit. I also believe we certainly have the locker room and coaches to help him turn it around.

On July 3, 2014, Jordan was suspended for the first 4 games of the 2014 season for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing substance policy. On September 19, 2014, Jordan again violated the drug policy and was given an additional 2 games to add for the suspension.

On April 28, 2015, Jordan was suspended for the entire 2015 season for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing substance policy for a third time.

Why did he get on the PEDs to begin with? He was drafted into a bad scheme fit and then when he started to develop a role in the defense it wasn't what they wanted they "requested" he bulk up which started the string of failed PED test. Lets not act like its unheard of for a player to be drafted to a team that uses them poorly or put a player in a poor position to succeed.

Jordan was never a good pass rusher evenin college. He might be better off switching back to TE at this point

I knew this thread was coming as soon as he was released. As it is with a majority of players released. Jordan has been one of the bigger busts in recent memory and has never been a good pass rusher at any level. He had 14.5 sacks in 4 years at college, is that good? The only videos you could provide are him being drafted and a sports science segment. I'll take an easy pass on him.

Interesting watching the draft clip. Fans go crazy. Analysts reaction is enthusiastic and the discussion of what he adds to Miami incredibly positive. Sad how a couple years changes everything. Now he leaves Miami in disgrace with a "biggest bust" label attached.

Not seeing report of why he failed the physical. Knee? Apparently he missed all of last season due to the knee. Seems a long rehab. Or just a convenient reason to jettison him off the roster?

Intriguing reclamation player at a rock bottom price. If he can even pass a physical by training camp. Would expect a non guaranteed minimum contract at best. Not seeing a great fit for him with the Broncos. DE or OLB? Not overly productive when healthy what would the expectations be now?

I wonder how much interaction Joseph had with him last year? And more importantly his opinion on Jordan as a person and player.

Is he better than Barrett, Miller, Dora, or Ray? If the real reason he got cut was he couldn't pass a physical, why would anyone want him here? I would have to say no thank you to signing Jordan.
