Not sure I would give up the assets needed to trade up for either in all honesty. But can understand the argument for doing so.

Tough close call but I give my narrowest of margins vote to Foster in this scenario.
Nice post and I feel the same

The Broncos covet a LT, an already proven LT so in a sense who's to say that you wouldn't trade back while trading away either Barrett or Ray and the number 20 pick to Cleveland in exchange for Joe Thomas and perhaps the opportunity to draft a worthy replacement for either in Tj Watt, who they'll have at a reasonable cost for the next five years.

I'm not saying it's going to happen it's just speculation and worth a conversation.
Sure. Denver hasn't stayed at their first round spot in half of the last six drafts. They've traded up twice and back once, I believe. When it's reported Denver is talking to Cleveland, everybody starts thinking Joe Thomas sooner or later. We shall see.

Yea i admit thomas first comes to mind because i havent heard much about anyone else. I remember speculation about a pick for one of our qbs when romos thing was going on but thats all. Granted i dont have a social circle....more like a social dot

Ah, but it's an ever expanding dot.

I hadn't considered Watt... but after comparing his stats to his brother, understanding the mentality and work-ethic of that family, and watching highlights, I'm sold.

If we do trade back into the 2nd (I think we do this if Foster, McCaffrey, and Njoku/Howard are off the board). We pick up Watt with #33 and get Joe Thomas. It doesn't sound like a bad option. We've had a lot of success having 2 starting and 2 rotational pass rushers, I wouldn't think we'd stray away from that model.

Why the assumption that Thomas is included in the trade? Not just you but several threads keep mentioning it. You are just the "lucky one" I chose to respond to.

Unless I have missed it, there has been zero indication that Thomas is available. His agent made a vague comment about the Rocky Mtns and ongoing speculation by fans is all I am seeing. Browns just upgraded their oline to make it a strength, why undermine that with trading Thomas? Is the theory they are drafting an OT as a replacement?

Browns have 12 picks this draft. Including the top pick in every round. Even if the Broncos trade #20 for #33, it seems the additional assets could just as easily be a 3rd or 4th the Browns add.

Watt seems like a good player. I would prefer they stay at #20 and draft a player there. Several more interesting speculated to be there instead of Watt. If the Thomas speculation is the trade then I can get excited about it depending on what else the Broncos would need to add to complete the deal.

A team can never have too many pass rushers and I don't care if there is a controversy about who's going to start. LOL We all know how John Elway loves his defense and especially his edge rushers.

Now if we were to pick up Watt, that would make Shaq somewhat expendable I believe. Either him or Shane Ray would be great trade bait in our quest for a LT.

Now I'm not saying that we do this, but these are good problems to have because its simply trade bait and we could easily trade for a left tackle like Joe Staley or Jason peters if not Joe Thomas.

If we went there Jason peters route we would have to get something more in return from the Eagles, a lot more considering his age but I'm sure can you see where I'm coming from with this because there's a lot of good that can come from it. Most people just get stuck on one player or one idea right now everybody is stuck on Christian McCaffrey and a high-powered offense but I'm telling everyone this would not be a bad idea.

                    Especially if New England trades
Jimmy Grab-a-pole to Cleveland for the number 12 pick. If they do, then you know they'll be targeting Christian McCafferrey and lets not forget the recent news this morning of Marshawn lynch filing papers for reinstatement into the league after retiring.

If Marshawn lynch goes to the Raiders, than we're going to need another defender like Von Miller on the field and TJ Watt can do a lot to help us there on defense against both New England and Oakland.

Yes, there have been several articles about it, his agent mentioning it, Mike and Stink talking about how they've heard it as well (from sources close to Thomas that he wants to be traded to Denver). Obviously, it wouldn't be a simple trade back and Joe. It would probably include a 3rd, or a 4th and a future late round, or maybe even Shaq on the trading block again (but his value has dropped since his decrease in play last year)

Am I the only one who does NOT want Joe Thomas here? We're going to have to give up way too much for a player who is too old to be thinking about playing long enough to make a deal worth it

With the price tag being as high as it is for an aging left tackle, one can only imagine what it would be for a guy in his mid 20s that's prove.
However I'm sure there's plenty of quality back ups in the league that the Broncos could trade for and insert into the starting position.

I mean at this point most anything has got to be better than Michael Scofield, Ty Sambrailo or Donald Stevenson playing LT.

King Dunlap is still out there and I firmly believe if the Broncos don't make something happen in a trade on draft day that they may go out and sign Dunlap but the reason they haven't done that yet is because they do not want to allow any other NFL team know their true intentions come draft day.
