  • Dion Dawkins?

Just for the sake of conversation, Could the Broncos go guard at number 20?

Sounds like a Ludacris idea right however who do the Broncos have that guard outside of Ronald Leary?

No we have Max Garcia Michael Scofield and Connor McGovern but is anybody really satisfied with them at the moment?

It all starts up front and it all starts from the inside out no I'm the first to admit the Broncos need to get a left tackle they definitely need in fact to get a left tackle but I don't think they can find their going to have to make a trade somewhere, even if it's for a back up left tackle somebody anybody would be better than tie Sambrailo or Donald Stevenson at the moment.

    Dion Dawkins overview

    Strength:
Burly upper body and thick calves down below. Has shown enough upper-body strength to muscle his defender around even without using great leverage. Shows a natural amount of core strength to battle against bull rushers. Able to get out of stance and into his kick-slide with pretty good fluidity and quickness. Uses choppy steps to slide and rarely allows his base to get too narrow in pass protection or in the run game. Plays with balance. Uses aggressive, tight settle-step into defender and then fires hands and hips to help generate push in run game. Has experience in zone- and gap-running schemes. Full-time three-year starter at left tackle.

    Weaknesses:
Hands are often too wide in pass protection and his punch turns into grabbing. Needs to keep hands quieter and inside pre-punch. Wide punch approach robs him of some of his natural length. Will head-butt into contact in pass pro. Can be a little inconsistent with footwork when attempting to redirect back inside against stunts. Has a little stiffness in his hips that limit his bend and could affect anchor. Gets caught over-committing on twists and will open the door for looping rushers. Needs to work on improving leverage rather than relying on pure power. Plays with inconsistent angles to the linebackers when making backside cut-off blocks.

    Sources Tell Us
"I don't know if I see him as a guard or a tackle yet, but I think he can play both. I like him because I think he could upgrade our pass protection inside if we did bump him to guard, but he's athletic enough to play right tackle, too." -- AFC West scout

    Bottom Line
Quality tackle who operates with good balance and solid technique. Shows some good initial quickness and a smooth kick-slide out of his stance, but might be better in short areas as a guard rather than in open space as a tackle. He's athletic enough to operate in space, but power appears to be his calling card. His wide-hand approach in pass protection could be a difficult habit to break, but he has the natural power to withstand bull rush that might come with that. Dawkins is a well-schooled, three-year starter who has chance to transition into an early starter.

I dont know If they have a first round grade on him or not but I don't see the value at #20. He seems like a guy that if we don't like anyone else on the board but we definitely want him we move down a couple times maybe the early second or maybe stay in the late first to get that 5th year option. The team might also see him as a tackle and not a guard. I think he started 3 straight seasons and he has those long 35 inch arms teams look for.

If we go guard at 20 and it's not lamp. I'd be very disappointed.

Dion Dawkins has 40 starts at LT. He might be able to play all spots except C. #20 would be a reach for him. He might be available at #51.

          Nope, reach.

I think Pat Elflein is a better OL prospect then Dawkins.

If we could grab someone like Foster or Robinson at 20, then Elflein at 51, I would be very happy

The Draft will produce the ultimate ranking. I'm looking forward to it.

Not at 20, but I would not mind doing him at all in the 2nd.

                Miles Garrett

Now I know there is zero chance of getting this guy but I just wanted to share his highlight reel out of draft day spirit.

Does this draft somewhat feel reminiscent of the 2011 draft when Von Miller and JJ Watt came into the league? All that talent coming out that year was fantastic and now we are about to see Miles Garrett and TJ Watt cone out along with Christian McCafferrey, Oj Howard, Reuben Foster etc. this is going to be legendary!

Just hoping John Elway makes some great picks because they are there!

midway through that reel there was a play which would incredible. HE sacked the QB and knocked out the ball. Bounced back onto his feet and then tackled the offensive player who picked it up.....wow.

I think Miles garrett is over rated. He may not even be the best pass rusher in the draft and his pass rushing doesn't make him the #1 overall pick, imo.

Being able to defend against the pass and run is a big asset. Also being a guy who can sack the passer oR at least be disruptive is huge. He also has a great blend of speed and strength.

Is he going to be another Von Miller or another Jadeveon Clowney? I think he, without a doubt, is going number 1. But, there is a risk. That is, obviously, true for all prospects. He's a freak athlete with an amazing highlight reel, but I've seen him disappear at times, too. It will be interesting to see how he does in the NFL.

He runs funny. Watch his 40 times and he dips his shoulder when he runs.

it looks like with the right linemen he can disappear, Cam Robinson did pretty well holding him off

While true I think it also depends on how well he can be coached.
